I have visited the Magnolia furniture store online many a times. And I have loved almost every piece of furniture I’ve seen there every single time. So a chance to refresh my own living room using any furniture I liked from Magnolia seemed like a very exciting proposition in more than one way.

Firstly, this was a first for me. I have often been sent smaller home decor items to try out and style, but ALL the furniture for an entire section of my living room is something else. And all firsts are very exciting to me. Trying new things and pushing new boundaries is something I thrive on.. this blog itself is an example of that.

To top that, the furniture was all coming from Magnolia. At the risk of sounding repetitive, I have loved almost every piece of furniture I’ve seen on their online store every single time. How many of us get a chance to try all of our favourite furniture right in our own homes? How often do you get to walk into a store, point at all the beautiful things you love and say ‘send all of it’ without even looking at the price tag?!

Yes, I did have to return it all at the end. But not before I had a fairy tale day of setting up, styling and clicking some dream pics of a very dreamy version of my living room.

And now comes the part when I give you an honest review of it all and share my favourite pieces with you.

The Henry Sofa

When the rest of the furniture has as much distinctive character as this collection from the Magnolia furniture store, I would prefer a sofa with simple, clean lines. It forms a sort of base for all the design elements around it and helps to tie them all together. The Henry plays this part perfectly.

An added bonus, especially for Mumbai sized apartments, is its compact size. It is comfortable, yet gives you enough space to build the rest of your living room around it.

Sura Tufted Coffee Table

This coffee table was love at first sight. I love the rich design, and yet how the white tones it down to fit in easily with other furniture. I love how the large size gives you enough space for coffee table decor. You can add large trays to serve food and drinks at a gathering, or have it double up as an additional seating when required.

Flo Rocking Chair

When I walked into the store, this rocking chair was the first piece of furniture I noticed and put on my mental ‘want’ list. (This was also the one piece that my kids and me were sad to return!).  Exquisitely beautiful and extremely comfortable… it’s a perfect combination of form and function.

Notice the cane sides, brass tacks along the edge of the seat and the brass strips detail on the back. All the little details add up to the beauty of this chair.

Cheminee Bookshelf

This big, blue bookshelf would make a bold and beautiful statement anywhere you use it. It does the same for my living room.

I love the pretty blue, the distressed finish and the gentle carved details.

Fleur Side Table

This is another delightful piece that makes a quiet statement of its own.

I love how its simple shape (round top, straight legs) allows the delicate bone inlay to be the hero.

Pink & Blue Carved Mirror

This magnificent mirror is what decided our colour scheme for the space. Most of you have seen my beautiful red mirror on this wall. It makes quite a bold piece and I’ve always felt that it would be a difficult piece to replace should I ever want to change it. This mirror shattered that illusion.

These pink and blue shades are just the right mix of colour, without making it ‘colourful’. Notice how we’ve styled some of the pics with bright pink cushions to add a pop of colour and others with pastel greens to keep it neutral, and this mirror works so well with both looks.

Decor Accents

Once the main furniture pieces were taken care of, I realised I could pick up all the decor accents to style the living room from the Magnolia furniture store too. They have a whole range of table accents from cute wooden animals to vintage metal candles to glass candle holders.

Their collection of lamps and lights is beautiful with the Arwa hanging light being my absolute favourite. I would have brought it home if I could have fixed it temporarily for the shoot.

Tall wooden pillars, beautiful trays, marble and metal planters, brass boxes… the list of treasures you can find at the store is quite endless.

Magnolia Furniture Store

The thing is, that though their furniture is all designed and made by them, the decor accents are sourced during their travels… just like we would source ours for our homes. So while they list most of their furniture on Magnolia’s online store for you to order and purchase, their decor accents might be a single piece that you’ll find only at their store and not online.

A visit to their store is anyway worthwhile, because it’s one of the most beautiful stores I have seen. A double height ceiling with flowing drapes creates a fascinating visual as you enter.

Their eclectic mix of striking furniture arranged in various little ‘scenes’ does the rest. I could walk around the store again and again, discovering new treasures every time I passed by the same corner again.

And I am sure I could go there and pick another set of furniture and decor and give my living room an entirely different look all over again.
