Bathrooms often get relegated to the background. But in the bathrooms of Kai, we saw an opportunity to add identity and delight.

Both the bathrooms, though compact, were approached with the same design intent as the rest of the house. To marry form and function through thoughtful planning, expressive finishes, and just the right dose of mood. This post walks you through the transformation of both the bathrooms of Kai, where every tile, fitting, and line of grout was chosen with purpose.

Master Bathroom of Kai

The master bathroom of Kai may be compact at 6′-5″ x 4′-2″, but it is anything but ordinary. Every inch is designed for beauty and function, with a clean, efficient layout that makes the most of the narrow space.

The Plan

As you step inside, the vanity and basin greet you on the right, immediately catching the eye with their crisp, elegant presence. Opposite, the WC is neatly tucked in. Beyond it, along the far wall, lies the shower zone, partition-free to maintain openness while still clearly zoned.

A small ledge behind the WC doubles as a practical storage shelf, while also neatly concealing the flush tank. A vertical window near the shower brings in natural light and ventilation, crucial in such a compact footprint.

Look & Feel

The finishes are bold yet graceful, playing on an indigo-and-white palette that continues the calm sophistication seen in the adjoining master bedroom.

The lower half of the walls and the vanity are clad in deep indigo subway tiles—rich, glossy, and reflective, adding visual depth and polish. Above this, the walls transition into a patterned tile that channels Mediterranean charm, They soften the richness of the blue with delicate white and navy motifs. The floor carries the same patterned tile, unifying the space beautifully.

The basin is a white, textured, round vessel set on a terrazzo-look quartz counter. Brass fixtures bring a warm gleam to the otherwise cool palette. The slim-framed mirror with soft lighting completes the vanity corner with effortless charm. Even a potted plant makes its way into this tiny room, adding a moment of life and freshness.

Girl’s Bathroom of Kai – Plan

At just 7′ x 3′-9″, the girl’s bathroom is compact, but we made sure every bit of it delivered both style and function. The layout is classic—vanity by the door, toilet at center, shower beyond—but it’s the material choices that give this space its graphic punch.

Look & Feel

We began with terrazzo—a finish we’ve loved for its dynamic, scattered character and nostalgic-modern charm. The floor and lower half of the walls are wrapped in white terrazzo tiles flecked with bold black and grey chips. Above this crisp foundation, we introduced a deep teal for the upper walls. We used a matte ceramic tile with a subtly textured surface that absorbs light beautifully, adding visual depth without heaviness.

The shower area is discreetly separated with a clear glass partition, enhancing functionality without visual heaviness.

Fixtures throughout are matte black, giving the space a confident, contemporary edge. The basin sits atop a floating white vanity with a terrazzo countertop that carries through the material language. The tall mirror with spot lights above opens up the narrow space. Black bath accessories tie in with the black faucet, shower, and basin.

We chose to keep the palette tight: teal, terrazzo, black and white—with a fresh green pothos for a hint of life. The resulting space feels intentional, punchy, and totally suited to its young occupant.

Before and After: Master Bathroom of Kai

Before, the master bathroom felt purely utilitarian. Beige tiles wrapped the room in monotony, with a basic white sink and wall-mounted fixtures completing the picture. While it served its function, the space lacked soul and refinement.

Now, it tells a completely different story. The transformation introduces a bold yet elegant palette of indigo and white. A textured white countertop basin sits on a speckled quartz counter, and the brass-finished fixtures add the final flourish of luxury. It’s no longer just a bathroom—it’s a spa-like corner that makes you pause.

Before and After: Girl’s Bathroom of Kai

The original bathroom was practical but visually dated—lined with beige, stone-textured tiles and basic sanitary fittings. The space lacked layering and contrast, with most elements blending into a monochrome palette. Storage was open and cluttered, and finishes felt more utilitarian than curated.

In its new avatar, the bathroom is a lesson in moody elegance and modern detailing. We wrapped the lower half in terrazzo-patterned tiles. The walls above rise in a stunning matte-finish teal—cool, calm, and deeply chic. A floating white vanity with a terrazzo counter anchors the basin area, where a matte black basin and fixtures now bring drama and definition.

A custom full-width mirror with backlit illumination reflects light and adds depth, while warm recessed lighting and a touch of greenery soften the bold finishes.

This transformation marries style and practicality, delivering a bathroom that feels like a quiet escape—tailored and timeless.

With Kai’s bathrooms, our goal was clarity in planning and confidence in mood. From cramped and outdated to composed, characterful spaces—every corner now feels intentional. Whether it’s the vintage charm of the master bath or the bold serenity of the girl’s ensuite, we focused on elevating utility through layered finishes, matte textures, and a balanced palette.

We believe even the smallest rooms can carry the strongest style statements, and these bathrooms are proof. Calm, clever, and distinctly personal—just the way we like it.
