Asian Paints has announced its Colour of the Year 2018. It is a beautiful, bright yellow called ‘Passion Flower’. They describe it as ‘a colour that attracts and emits positivity with a spark in it’… and I agree! Just looking at this happy, golden colour can add sunshine to your day. And so, me thinks, yellow decor for our homes in this lovely colour is a great idea!
Do you remember how we added a pop of yellow to our otherwise white master bedroom to brighten it up? It remains for ever happy and for ever peaceful, and we’re still loving that room.
Yellow Decor:
And today we have a great excuse to elaborate on the virtues of yellow.
Nah.. not really. I don’t think anyone needs to be told what a cheerful colour yellow is. Instead, I’m going to share some yellow decor images that I really loved while surfing the virtual world. These are images which made me think “Ooh! I want to try that!” and I hope you’ll find them inspiring too.
And THEN, at the end, I have links to some of my favourite yellow decor items available online. So if you’re looking to add sunshine to your room, you can just click away!
Let’s get to it..
Yellow Walls:
Isn’t this simply spectacular? The bright yellow wall, the shape of that entrance, the calligraphy border and the contrasting Moroccan tiles. So many elements put together and yet the end result gives an idea of simplicity.
This wall is the opposite. It is actually quite simple, adorned only by a wall hanging and some plants. Yet you feel like so much is going on here, and all in a good way.
The bright yellow walls of this room are toned down by the white bedding and lamp shades. I love the hint of black which you can see in the light fitting and the single black cushion cover.
This yellow wall has been made brighter by that beautiful collage of wall plates. The base colour remains white, but the greens, oranges and reds all brighten up the room further.
I absolutely love the rustic finish of this yellow wall. The black carved wooden shelf further adorns it.
Wallpapers are great quick-fixes for an easy makeover. This busy, floral wallpaper is set off perfectly by the simple, straight lined furniture.
Yellow Furniture:
I love everything about this pic. The beautiful yellow sofas, that amazing rug in red and orange hues and the little jungle suspended in the window. I would love to call this happy space my own!
Love how this single table has made the room yellow and happy!
Yellow decor against a deep blue wall gives the room a much richer look, and all the gold accents add to it.
Another room made yellow just by those yellow chairs. I love how they pop out against the other neutral furniture.
Another stunning space. That wallpaper is amazing by itself, and the contrasting yellow is adding to its high impact.
Everything Else Can Be Yellow Too!
Yes, we know that, don’t we? You can use so many types of accents to get your yellow decor in.
This yellow door for instance would make me stop in my tracks. And I would have to really control myself to not go and ring the door bell!
And this lovely mosaic.. would definitely get me clicking too!
Loving this yellow planter. I think yellow makes a great colour for planters because it brings out the green so beautifully.
Napkins.. such a small add on that’s taken the table setting from white to yellow. I love how inviting this looks.
And drapes… this gorgeous pic by Neha was the pic-of-the-week for our ‘Yellow Decor’ theme on #MyDesiSwag. (Head over to my account on Instagram to know more about that). Don’t you love how the light filtering in through the pretty sheers gives a golden glow to the whole room? That would be one happy place to hang out in!
I started browsing yellow decor after Asian Paints declared ‘Passion Flower’ the colour of the year 2018 and I loved all the happy spaces I saw. Though these are only a few of the images I came across along the way, they were enough to inspire this post.

Until next time,
What great timing? I just painted my hallway yellow, the wall decor is done, but need to add a lot of greens, as I can see they look so good against yellow in one of your photos and also need to DIY some cane finish ceiling light.
Sounds great, Kadambari.. all the best!!
