Time seems to fly by faster than a blink. The year is almost up, and I always first realise this in early December, when I get down to writing this post. So here is a short synopsis of the various projects we’ve completed over the year, with the Wallpaper Roundup 2023.
Wallpaper Roundup 2023
I have always been enthusiastic about using wallpapers as wall decor. It’s such a beautiful way to quickly transform the vibe of any space. All the wallpapers we have ever used have always been special to me, and they always felt like ‘my’ wallpapers.
This year, ‘special’ takes on an added significance, and they are all quite literally ‘my wallpapers’. Though we used only a handful this year, each of them is bespoke. Every wallpaper you see below was customised especially for our space, keeping in mind colours, size, the clients’ preferences and of course, the requirements of that space.
1 – Nature Mural
We picked blush and green as primary colours for this full home. We obviously wanted these colours to flow into the master bedroom too. With the wicker bed headboard and the carvings on the side table, nature was the primary theme of the bedroom, and we thought we’d spread it across the space by using wallpapers on its two main walls.
The wall behind the bed is the show-stopper. The main elements of the mural are the birds, plants and flowers. We wanted to make sure the furniture doesn’t cover them. Imagine putting the wallpaper and then realising that the side table hides the bird behind it? We finalised the sizes and positions of all the furniture coming into the room before designing this wallpaper.
The same theme carries across to the opposite wall too, with the flora and fauna floating around the television and the mirror.
In keeping with the home, we used blush and green as the primary colours of the mural. The design is gentle not just in subject, but also its treatment, so even though it covers almost all the visible walls of the space, it isn’t overpowering and makes the bedroom gentle and peaceful.

2 – Vintage Tropical Foliage
This bar is strategically placed in the space between the entrance, living room and kitchen of Falak Azura.
The living area is vibrant, with red and blue being the primary colours used there. The bar also has a blue kitchen on one side and a grey and gold entrance on the other. Being in the centre of all these spaces, we wanted the bar to have it’s own identity, yet fit right in.
The colours did the trick for us. The blue fits in with the living room and kitchen and the vintage themed sepia wallpaper melts right into the greys. We took a break from all the geometrics in the living area with a tropical vibe to this wall. The wooden flooring and blue cabinets fit right in.
This wallpaper is available online, as you will see when you click the link below. So i’m sure you are wondering why I referred to this as ‘bespoke’. That’s because we had it customised to fit onto our bar wall.
It isn’t by chance that the tall palm tree towers behind the chairs, and the other plants fit just under our wall unit. Did you also notice how the bird fits right in the centre of the wall unit?

3 – Floral Watercolour Mural
A room for two little girls which is almost all white. The walls, wardrobes, bed, bookshelf and most of the study cabinets of this room are all done in white.
But it is a little girls’ room after all. We had to bring in the colour and cheer. And what better way to do it than with flowers.
There are so many things I love about this wallpaper. That the ‘sketches’ look informal, like they could have been drawn by the two little girls. That the white background keeps the wallpaper from being overpowering even though the colours used are bright and vivid. And that it set the tone for the rest of the room – We used soft colours as a base with brighter motifs and patterns to add the colour.

4 – Tree of Life
The first thing the client showed me when we took on this project, was a painting of a tree of life done in Madhubani style. She said she wanted this in her living area.
Over the next few months we went through so many options in terms of designs, styles and colours for the full home. The one thing that remained constant through it all, was this tree of life.
It’s the first thing you see as you enter this home and is the focal point of the living and dining space once you are inside. With the creams and beiges of the other furniture and furnishings, the bright colours of the tree of life light up this home.
