We’ve spent the last couple of months ‘ooh-ing’ and ‘aah-ing’ over every selection we’ve made for this sweet room. We’re quite delighted with how cute it all looks put together. And so we’re really happy to bring to you our pretty nursery reveal today.
In case you missed our introductory post to this room, you can click here for a quick look. We have details of how and what we planned for this room, and it’s always fun to compare it with the final result!
The Plan
For a quick recap, this was the plan we started with. It’s simple enough, with a wardrobe on one wall, a pull out bed on the other and our baby’s crib opposite that.
Why do we need a bed and a crib? For one, this also serves as a guest room. Which means we need that bed for guests when they are over.
Secondly, it’s a great place for mommy to sit and play with baby or read to her.
And finally, the crib is only temporary. Babies grow out of their cribs fast enough and eventually will need a bed to sleep in. It’s always better to plan a little ahead for kids’ rooms.
Our Pretty Nursery Reveal
Let’s take a look at the layout first, and then we’ll talk about the finishes. So here is a little virtual tour of this room.
As you walk in through the door, you are faced by an entire wall of glass sliding doors through which you step into a little balcony. This means we have plenty of natural light flowing into this room.
In the right hand corner right next to the window, we have our baby’s crib.
Next to the crib is this darling chest of drawers we had customised for this room. S uses the top drawers for diapers, creams and all the utility items she needs. The lower drawers are for baby, so she can reach her toys now that she is crawling around already.
Then we have our entrance door, right next to which we have our full length wardrobes.
We have a set of open shelves near the wardrobe, at just the right distance so that they don’t get in the way of the wardrobe shutter. The shelf at bed level also serves as a side table for the bed.
And then we have our day bed. It’s cozy and cute and opens out into a double bed when required.
The Finishes
Once we had our furniture planned out and in place, we started working on the finishes. There is usually one starting point which I use as the foundation on which to build the ‘story’ of the space. In our case, it was this wallpaper.
We spent the longest time selecting it. Some wallpapers were too busy, some too patterned and some just too childish… yes, even for a baby’s room!
We eventually found this one and fell in love. The pattern is light, it has a childish character to it even though the theme itself is not childish, and we absolutely loved the colours… soft, pretty and not too cliched.
The Furniture
We picked the colours off it to go on our furniture. This chest of drawers for instance. Do you remember the one that S had absolutely loved? We showed it to you in our introductory post.
This chest of drawers is entirely inspired by that one. We picked the colours though, to go with our room. The peach and green are from the leaves while the beige is from the stems of our delicate trees. We thought a hint of yellow would be just the right addition to this mix.
And then this book shelf. We had earlier planned a small side table near the bed. Once we started doing the electricals we realised that the wall is concrete. Which means we can’t dig into it to put the switch box in. This book shelf was our solution to that.
The vertical strip running top to bottom is about 1 inch thick. This, along with the thickness of the POP and plaster of the wall, gives us enough to be able to conceal a switch board inside.
We picked the beige of the wallpaper stems to go on the book shelf too.
The Furnishings
The furnishings started with the curtains. The solid is a pretty print in pinks, greens, yellows and grey… almost like it was made for our room.
S realised she would be using the sheer most of the time since the light in here is just too bright. So we wanted a sheer that would tone down the light but not make the room gloomy. A white sheer worked best. It softens the light without changing its hue. This sheer has tiny flowers in exactly our room colours to up its cuteness quotient.
And then the rug. Since we were having it custom made, we knew we could play with the colours here. Once we had our room colours final, we got this made in our chosen colours and it fits in here perfectly.
The Accessories
And finally, in our pretty nursery reveal, all the little things we added to complete this room.
In our introductory post, we told you how S wanted a dainty chandelier to prettify the room. We found just the right one.
It’s small, white and cute… and adds its own delicate charm to this space.
The sweet name hanging was a gift for little baby.. and those colours fit in here almost like we customised it!
S found those adorable animal tiles online and we had them framed in the light pine wood frame. Black was out of the question, and we thought white on white would be, well, just too white!
That leaves the bedding. We chose white and grey for the bedsheet so that it gives us a good neutral base to put all our coloured cushions on. The cushions we picked in the four colours we have used all over the room.
Before and Afters
Which brings us to the most exciting part of our pretty nursery reveal… the before and afters.
The entrance to our room…
… now has white wardrobes from floor to ceiling.
The bed wall…
… which now has our day bed with open book shelves by its side.
The window wall…
Which we’ve brightened up by using lighter curtains.
And our crib wall…
… which holds the crib, a chest of very useful drawers and shelves for easy access and display.

Hi I was wondering if yiu can tell me where did you source the curtains from. I have been hunting one for my baby girls nursery. Thank you.
Hi Rima. These aren’t ready curtains. We pick our curtains along with other fabrics from a regular furnishing store and get them tailored.
