Today I’m bringing you the plans of a pretty nursery makeover we’ve started for S & Y’s home. Do you remember the dreamy white bedroom we designed for them a while back? We had to put a hold on all renovations after the bedroom because S was expecting a sweet little bundle of joy.

An adorably cute package was delivered soon after, and we’re now ready to make her a pretty room of her own.

Let’s Make A Pretty Nursery

If you remember the master bedroom makeover, we had taken all the existing furniture from that room and put it into the second bedroom to be used by guests. Now we are about to give the guest bedroom a makeover so that it makes a pretty nursery for our baby girl and also works as a guest room when they have visitors.

The Plan

This is the plan we’ve made for our nursery. Let’s see how it works with what we have.An Adorable Baby's Pretty Nursery Makeover - 1

The Wardrobe Wall

We have wardrobes placed in an ‘L’ along our entrance door wall. Right next to that is the current dressing table.

We will keep the wardrobe on the same wall. Only, instead of the extended ‘L’ shaped wardrobe, a floor to ceiling wardrobe on the entrance door wall should take care of all their storage needs.

The Bed Wall

Further along that wall, next to the dressing table, lies the bed.

For now, our moppet uses a crib, so we have to make sure there is place for it. We also need a double bed to accommodate guests, and it isn’t possible to fit them both in together.

Our solution, is a trundle bed. Perfect for S to be able to change our moppet or read to her. It will also easily open out as a double bed when they have visitors. And when our little one has outgrown her crib, they can remove it from the room and she can use the bed as her own.

This little girl’s room, designed by Emily Henderson, is my favourite ever. Every time I think daybed in a girl’s room, this picture pops up in my head. Though our bed is going to be nothing like this, I only hope we manage the soft sweet charm of this room.

The Crib Wall

The wall opposite the bed is currently bare, with an odd offset running down it’s centre. The crib will go to the left of this offset.

Right next to the crib, S wanted a chest of drawers. She plans to use the upper drawers to store all her baby requirements. She’ll put all the toys in the lower drawers, which our moppet will soon be able to help herself to.

S loved this chest of drawers she found on Pinterest. I love that we can customise the colours to go with whichever colours we finally choose for the room. I also love all those mismatched, quirky handles!

The Colours

S dreams of a pretty room with soft colours and everything girly about it for her little doll. All kinds of pretty images started popping up in my head.. and on my Pinterest feed when I heard her brief.

Our colour selection will start with a pretty pastel wallpaper. Once we have one we truly love, we’ll pick the colours off that to plan the rest of our room.

S also wants to add a delicate chandelier to the room to add some girly charm.

I have a feeling we’re going to add on lots of cuteness as we go along designing this room.

For now, we’re done with our furniture design and looking for just the right finishes to make our pretty nursery a reality.
