I’m back with another mood-board-cum-shopping post, and this time we’re designing a Moroccan bedroom.

Do you remember the Tropical living room that we designed in three different styles? You guys loved it. You loved the mood boards, you loved that you could shop from it and I got a whole lot of requests for mood boards of different styles.

And so here I am, back with the next, a Moroccan bedroom.

Moroccan Bedroom - 3 Ways

Moroccan Bedroom – 3 Ways

What’s changed here from the last post is obviously the theme. This was one of the many requests from one of our blog readers. (And yes, I will get to all requests, old and new, one at a time.)

What hasn’t changed is our colours. I realised the three colour schemes I used last time are quite perfect for all my mood board posts. A neutral scheme for those who like it soft, a bright, colourful scheme for those who want it vibrant and one in blue, because it’s the most loved colour in the world!

So here is the first.

Naturally Neutral

Though I usually associate the Moroccan style with bold and bright, I think it can be done quite well in neutrals too. Remove the colour, but keep the patterns, intricate carvings, delicate embroideries, distressed finishes and metallic accents, and you’ll have your Moroccan vibes for sure.

Don’t believe me? Take a look at this…

Moroccan Bedroom - 3 Ways

1 – EspaA+a – 5 – I have no idea what that name means! But don’t intricately designed arched doorways make you first think Moroccan?

2 – Natural Moroccan Tile 3 – The idea of using this piece of art is similar to the first. Photographs or depictions of Moroccan designs make good artwork for any Moroccan styled space.

3 – Weathered Mandala III – Though mandala art is not of Moroccan origin, the intricacy of the pattern lends itself well to this design style.

4 – Ellie Candle Holder – It’s the same reason I selected this candle holder for this Moroccan bedroom. Though you can’t see it in this little pic, the entire stand has beautiful, intricate design work  painted on it.

5 – Beige Distressed Mirror – The elaborate carvings on the mirror and that soft, distressed finish made me go for it instantly for this neutral mood board.

6 – Adrien Hand Carved Cabinet – The carved, floral border on this otherwise plain chest of drawers is just the detail you need for a room like this.

7 – Haveli Jali Bed – The fine jali work all over this stunning bed speaks for itself here.

8 – Arwa Hanging Light – I have been in love with this pendant ever since I first saw it and am still waiting for the right opportunity to be able to use it in a beautiful home.

9 – Dravidian Bedside Table – Another lovely piece with pretty design work that fits in so beautifully into this Moroccan bedroom.

10 – Muse Sofa – With everything else in the room intricately carved, I thought we could do with a simple and solid seat as a contrast.

11 – Turia Rug – I so love that this all white rug has a burst of colours running across every line of the pattern.

12 – Modello Side Table – We’re back to our Moroccan pattern with this graceful side table. That’s another good reason to put a solid sofa next to it.

13 – Ashir Applique Bedcover – Applique work is a great example of how to keep the pattern rich without adding any colour at all, and it is one of my favourite forms of embroidery.

14 – Ishwani Cushion Cover – The natural colour of the cotton silk is just right to break all the white.

15 – Mandala Cushion Cover – And this time, a mandala on a cushion.

16 – Ferug Cushion Cover – This one is all about textures in a relatively simple pattern.

17 – Aasia Applique Cushion Cover – The gold tissue provides a beautiful contrast to highlight the white applique work. And the colours, of course, are just perfect for this Moroccan bedroom.

Breezy Blues

You can’t really ever go wrong with blues, can you? I’ve used a mix of pastels and brights with a hint of green in it to make my blue Moroccan bedroom mood board. You can pick just the pastels or only the vibrant tones if you prefer it one way or the other.

Moroccan Bedroom - 3 Ways

1 – Zinga 6 – I’ve gone for Moroccan patterns and intricate design for my selection of artwork for this mood board too.

2 – French Medallion II – Moroccan design is also known for its stunning tile work. This artwork is a great way to bring that element into your space.

3 – Istanbul III – As you can see, most of this artwork has numbers on it. If you prefer one over the other, you can buy a set of similar pieces instead of these different selections.

4 – Round Wall Mirror – The soft minty blue-green of this mirror has my heart. A gentle pattern and the metallic element make sure it fits into our scheme of things.

5 – Doolittle Table Lamp – You see the pretty design work on the body of this lamp and you’ll know why I picked this one.

6 – Montserrat Buffet – Though the pattern on this side board is more straightforward than I would expect in a Moroccan themed space, the mirror front shutters and the colour, which goes so beautifully with the mirror, made me pick this piece.

7 – Athens Bed – I don’t think anything needs to be said about this fabulous piece. The picture says it all.

8 – Maharaja Pendant – The exquisite workmanship along with the brass finish… this lamp was an easy pick.

9 – Blue Inlay Bedside Table – Delicate craftsmanship with a stunning pattern in a vivid blue made this an obvious choice for a blue Moroccan bedroom.

10 – Charles Armchair – Considering all the pattern we’ve used all over, I once again selected a plain, solid piece for the chair. The pattern on the fabric though, makes up for the simplicity of the chair.

11 – Kolam Hand Painted Coffee Table – The arches along the rim and the beautiful hand painted pattern on the top make me think this table has a good Moroccan vibe to it.

12 – Regalia Cushion Cover – This one, with a beautiful gold design on luxurious velvet is as rich as they come.

13 – Blue Green Tile Print Cushion Cover – Does this pattern remind you of Moroccan tiles too?

14 – Shyrdak Turquoise Cushion Cover – Love that pattern and love that blue!

15 – Misha Bedcover – The pretty pattern here reminds me of Moroccan tiles and arches.

16 – Meppel Rug – Though this again is a simple pattern, it’s the mix of textures that I so love in this rug.

Vibrant Vibes

A Moroccan theme would be incomplete without at least one mood board that is all about colour. I’ve chosen to go mostly with pinks for this one.

Moroccan Bedroom - 3 Ways

1 – Round Brilliant Cut Diamond Mirror – This unusually patterned mirror frame had me from the start. That it is in rose gold made it a complete winner.

2 – Casey Hand Painted Lamp – The many coloured, vibrant pattern on the base had me select this lamp for my vibrant version of this Moroccan bedroom.

3 – Little Jewels IV – As the name suggests, this piece of art has almost every jewel tone you can think of. It certainly does the job of adding colour to this mood board.

4 – Paisley Faire II – Another mandala style piece of art, I love the peaches and blues of this one.

5 – Ornamental I – A Moroccan style trellis on that bright red background, this one is as vibrant as they get.

6 – Hand Carved Brass & Crystal Sconce – Isn’t this wall lamp the prettiest ever? The hand carving is simply beautiful and it can’t get much richer than a mix of crystal and brass.

7 – Athens Bedside Table – The design is charming as ever and the hint of blue just perfect to give a break from all the pinks.

8 – Bagh Bed – One of my favourite pieces, the white perfectly balances out the heavy, exquisite carving on the headboard. The white also helps to tone down the bright pink rug and sideboard.

9 – Jaipur Chest Of Drawers – The delicious inlay work in that striking pink.. this side board was made for this room.

10 – Rosa Fuchsia Cushion – The bright pink, the delicate embroidery, the cute pom poms.. and it’s round!

11 – Cotton Ikat Embroidered Cushion Cover – I love the bright colours, the bold pattern and the delicate thread work. This cushion cover (along with the next) is just the kind of vibrancy I would want in my Moroccan bedroom.

12 – Ridya Bedcover – The pretty print on this bedcover almost reminds me of inlay work. I love how the mix of colours would go with almost any colour scheme.

13 – Cotton Ikat Embroidered Cushion Cover – This makes the perfect pair along with no 11.

14 – Victoria Sofa – The blue base along with the pretty print in pinks and blues seemed to make this one a perfect addition to our mood board.

15 – Deja Vu Inlay Table – I once again selected this table for its sharp break away from the pinks. That the beautiful pattern is done in inlay is an added bonus.

16 – Pink Patchwork Kilim Dhurrie – The pink and blue on this rug is what got me started on this full mood board. Which is often the case when I start selecting furnishings for any room. I usually start with the rug. I think this bright rug holds the rest of this mood board together beautifully.

.

And with that, it’s a wrap. We have three beautiful and vastly different mood boards for a Moroccan bedroom.

Though it’s very unlike my usual style or preference, I think the neutral one is my favourite of all here. I’d love to know which one is yours.

Also, don’t forget to put in requests for the next set of mood boards. What theme and space would you like me to put together next time?

Happy shopping!
