Our next stop is the master bedroom of Sylver. This room has a special place in my heart. Not just because it is oh-so pretty, but also because I myself had absolutely no idea it was going to end up looking like this.
Master Bedroom Of Sylver
He loved this blue wardrobe and had shared an inspiration pic with me even before we started work on the home. We had the wood and grey textured walls of the entrance and guest room of this home and the deep blue wardrobes here. He liked the moody vibe and I thought that’s what we were aiming for in this bedroom. Until we went to select fabrics…
She said, ‘Rittika, you always do colour. How can you leave it out in my bedroom?’ She picked the exquisite pink and blue striped curtain fabric.. and just like that, we re-imagined the whole bedroom to this.
It is the perfect balance of yin and yang, with the deep, dark wardrobes setting the backdrop and making the pretty, delicate furnishings shine through. And the end result has me smiling from ear to ear.
The Plan
The door to this bedroom opens into a small passage instead of directly into the room. This makes this largeish bedroom look even larger.
Since the passage also opens into the bathroom, we realised it’s the perfect spot for the dressing area.
The client wanted to refurbish the existing wardrobes instead of tearing them down and making new ones. So the wardrobes stayed where they were.
The bed and side tables went on the larger wall, with the TV unit and chair opposite.
The Dressing Area
Since the dressing area is small and windowless, we used full length mirrors along the entire wall of storage shutters to make the space seem larger.
LED strips run between the shutters, again from floor to ceiling and across it. They light up this dark corner and also provide even, soft light that doesn’t hurt the eyes while putting makeup.
The Bed Wall
The large, king sized bed along with bedside tables on either side, line up on this wall.
We’ve left enough space beside the side table to open the wardrobe shutter.
The TV Wall
Opposite the bed, we have the television. We’ve used a large chest of drawers below it, because who ever complained of having too much storage?
That large, comfortable chair is just the kind I’d want to sink into every morning with the newspaper and a cup of coffee. The stool doubles up as a foot stool when not being used for dressing.
The Colours
I wanted to add wood tones and textures to the room to balance the dark blue wardrobes. Yet, dark wood would have made the room look heavy. Instead we went with a slim wooden border on the headboard, with most of it being clad in white leatherette.
Similarly, the bedside tables are of a distressed white finish, with wooden knobs to match the bed.
Do you notice the same wooden band on the pendant light too?
As always, we started off our colour selections for the master bedroom of Sylver with this rug. I love the deep reds and pinks that go with the dark blue.
I can safely call it one of my favourite rugs ever, and it looks fabulous laid out.
Though I had picked it when I thought we were doing a moody room, I realised that it will complement the softer pinks just as beautifully.
We took inspiration from our curtain fabric and went with a combination of pastel pinks with the blue for the cushions. At the foot of the bed, we similarly layered the blue quilt with the blush throw.
Adding layers to your bedding is such a great way of making the bed cozy and inviting.
Finally, the white distressed finish on the chest of drawers kept the opposite wall looking light too.
And I couldn’t resist a pic of the bedroom looking ethereal in the night lights.
Before and Afters
Let’s wrap up this walk through of the master bedroom of Sylver with a few before and afters.
The entrance passage of the master bedroom.
We put in floor to ceiling, mirror fronted storage cabinets that work as a dressing area, give tons of storage and make the whole passage look so much larger.
The wardrobe wall..
We added the right most section and overhead storage to the existing wardrobe, redesigning and repainting the shutters to get this magical transformation.
The bed wall..
We evened out the wall, removed the cove to increase the height of the room and beautified the wall using artwork and pendant lights to frame the bed.
The TV and reading corner…
The large chest of drawers makes a base for the TV, adds storage to the room and works as a side table for the reading chair too.

What this bedroom looks like is so completely opposite from what we had planned it to be, that I myself am very pleasantly surprised every time I see it. Can you relate to the awe I feel every time I look at photographs of this bedroom? Or am I just being a biased mom looking starry eyed at her own baby?
Let me know what you think and throw in your questions and comments below.
I have loads more beautiful spaces of Sylver coming up really soon, so remember to sign up here so you don’t miss any of the reveals. Also click here to take a look at the other spaces I’ve shared already.

Lovvveee the blue wardrobe. Would you pls share the shade and brand of paint used? Also any specific pre-paint treatment that one should do to get the excellent finish that you have pulled off here?
Thanks Bharti. We started off with Lost Blue by Asian Paints, then made it a little darker on site. We’ve used PU paint, which always gives a great finish.
Beautiful. Ritika can you pls let me know where this bed is from? And suggest some good sites for simple beds as this.
