We have had an overwhelming response to the foyer reveal last week. The number of hits we got last week is more than what we have been getting every month, on an average. So thanks guys! I’m glad you’re loving it… coz I’m loving sharing it with you. So let’s get straight to our big one this week… the master bedroom reveal.
The Plan:
You can catch up on how we planned the Master Suite here, in case you missed it earlier. This was our final plan then.
We combined 2 bedrooms to make a Master Suite. The dressing and sleeping areas were separated because the wall in between was a column. We couldn’t break it down, so we just made the most of it, and it actually worked out quite well. Our dressing area leads into the master bathroom and makes the whole layout more functional and convenient.
The Dressing Area:
1 entire wall is a large window here, and we have 3 walls which can be used. We divided this into ‘His’ wardrobe area,
‘Her’ wardrobe area,
And the Dressing ‘table’
The mirrors open out with storage space behind them. The smaller section for everyday use and the larger for storage.
We selected a burl and a leather finish laminate for the wardrobes here.
The steel and black handles go beautifully with this finish.
The interior of the wardrobe is finished in white laminate. There are loads of small drawers for Missus for her trinkets and various collections, and larger glass fronted drawers for the clothes.
We placed a beautiful marble top console in front of the window. You need some place to just keep stuff while putting into our taking out from the wardrobes. (Guess who loves to sleep under there. Snoopy is also matching the colour scheme of this room perfectly!)
We chose simple white drapes for 2 main reasons. Firstly, because it is a small room the white really helps to make it look bigger. Secondly, we weren’t looking to block the light… only the view. The white allows most of the light in during the day and keeps the room bright while still allowing for privacy.
Master Bedroom Reveal:
The bedroom itself consists of the sleeping area…
… and Mister’s study. Since we had an attached bathroom with the dressing area, we did not need the bathroom in the sleeping area. We included this into the bedroom to give Mister a secluded area for his study.
We found this beautiful vintage desk and chair when we went furniture shopping in Delhi. It is spacious, well organised, and totally gorgeous!
Mister is quite happy with his private space where he can work undisturbed.
As you can see from Mister’s chair, we’ve mostly used white in the bedroom, with a few highlights in yellow for sunshine brightness!
The side tables are custom made, and these pendant lights are my favourite in this home.
The masks are a ‘king’ and a ‘queen’ that Mister and Missus picked up while traveling.
I found those pretty handles at, you guessed it, Esmailjee Moosabhai!
The drapes are in 2 layers. We have a white sheer fabric in the front with delicately embroidered ‘tree of life’ motifs on it in silver.
A solid yellow at the back adds colour.
We’ve used more texture and less colour with the cushions and bedspread.
The wallpaper too, gives a textured fabric look to the wall.
The foot of the bed has a few paintings but is otherwise clean and light.
We have a comfortable easy chair on this side of the bed… the perfect spot to read a book or for a morning cup of tea.
So there we have it, our final master bedroom reveal.
I’m going to keep coming back with more, so do remember to sign-up here so that you can read them all!
And do watch this video for a synopsis of this post.
Until next time,
This is beautiful! What material is the yellow drape and is it room darkening ? Will the red curtain add the same effect on a similar sheer curtain with beige/ golden motifs?
Beautiful! What material is that yellow curtain made of? Is is room darkening curtain? What’s your view on using a similar sheer curtain with red curtain behind? Will it give a similar look?
Thanks Chaiitanyaa! That curtain doesn’t have a black out lining, but you can very easily add one if you like. Personally, I wouldn’t use a plain red fabric on an entire wall. I think it’s too strong a colour to use as a solid in one large space. But that is an individual choice 🙂
Great write up and a very professional video to go with it!
