It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog post here. As I find myself getting busier with work, it’s getting harder to stay regular here. But I know you guys have always found these roundup posts useful and wait for them eagerly. So here I am today, with the lighting roundup 2022.
Lighting Roundup 2022
I don’t usually select light fittings first. They come in after we’ve selected the furniture for the space and I have some idea of what the room is going to look like. Yet, once they’re in place, it often looks like they were the starting point of the design… like everything else was planned around them. And they always give all our spaces a magical luminescence that makes them special.
So here are our fittings we’ve used in our projects and loved. I’m sure you’ll love them too!
1 – Ceiling Lights
Dome Pendants
The wallpaper mural is most certainly the showstopper of this living room. We have a very simple dining table and chairs here, so as not to take away from that mural. When it came to the lights, I was looking for bold, statement pieces that can up our entire dining set up. And yet, they had to let the mural be the star.
The grey colour and the earthy cement texture makes them gel beautifully with the natural vibe of the wallpaper, while the large size and shape make them stand out in their own right. I also like that they are opaque. So the light doesn’t hit the eyes at all when they are on, and you can look beyond them, at the mural. Yet they light up the dining table perfectly well.

Afreen Hanging Lamp
This blue and white bedroom has such a light, breezy, textural vibe to it. These woven, thread pendants seemed to fit in perfectly in every way.
Again, I love how the shade largely protects the eyes from the direct light of the bulb, yet lights up the bedside table and corner so well.

Vintage Chandelier
Now here’s one piece that looks like this entire space was designed around it, doesn’t it?
Not true! We started with the grey cement walls here. But we weren’t looking to make an functional or industrial entryway. We wanted whoever entered this home to stop at the door for a second, in awe of what lay in front of them. So we went looking for a chandelier that would be rustic and glam all at once. And man, did we find it?!

Kanna Pendant Lamp
Though just a step away from our rustic foyer, this dining area is all about colour. With all the colourful baskets on the wall, we could have picked any colour at all for the pendant lamps. And we did go back and forth a bit between shades of pinks and oranges.
The orange eventually won, and I love the golden glow these lamps spread over the entire dining area. (It also makes your skin look great if you’re sitting at that table and basking in the glow!)

Breakfast Pendants
One glimpse into this kitchen and you can almost tell what I was thinking when I selected these…
That this sleek, smart, modern kitchen needed sleek, and smart lights for it’s breakfast counter. They had to zing things up, without being the zing themselves. Aren’t these just perfect?

Nymane Spot Lights
We have used these spot lights before and they have never failed us.
Simple and supple.. and love the light!

Outdoor String Lights
With a ceiling that’s three floors high, we didn’t have any way to hang ceiling lights on this terrace.
These string lights were the perfect solution to our problem… and they look oh so pretty too!

2 – Table Lamps
Heyan Wood Table Lamp
I had an unusual consideration while selecting a lamp for this living room. There is a little baby in the house, so the lamp had to be sturdy and unbreakable.. as safe as it could possibly be in case it gets pulled down by mistake.
This one is short and squat with a wide base, which makes it difficult to topple over. The wood makes it almost break-proof.. as compared to glass or a ceramic lamp. It also goes really well with our wood and brass side tables in this nature inspired space.

Winter Frost Lamp
With so much colour around in this living room, I decided to focus on texture when it came to the lamps.
Grey on grey is perfect. The delicate, intricate, glossy, ceramic of the lamp contrasts delightfully with the rustic, flat, cement texture of the end tables. Match made in heaven, I’d say.

Wicker Table Lamp
That chic, brass and teak wood sideboard is almost like the invisible line that divides the cement textured, grey, rustic entertainment area on that side, from the bright, colourful dining area on this.
I think the wicker lamp straddles between the two ends quite well, don’t you?

3 – Wall Lamps
Finally, let’s wrap up our lighting roundup 2022 with a couple of unusual wall sconces we’ve recently used.
Icosa Wall Lamp
This little bit of gold was just the right touch of bling to this glorious, lavender and grey, nature inspired bedroom.
Isn’t the combination divine?

Louvre Wall Lamp
And last, but not the least, this striking wall sconce we’ve used in this bathroom.
Love how it highlights are patterned wall by breaking it with it’s own pattern. And the soft glow is just right for this space.

That wraps up our lighting roundup 2022. So many spaces and so many different lighting solutions for them. I love the creativity that goes into almost every selection we make for every space we design. And I love the power behind each selection, because our choice of any of these can so completely change what that space will eventually look like.
I hope these posts give you more power to bring about the changes that you want in your spaces… and make your own little piece of heaven.
