Another year gone by and we’ve succeeded in making a few more beautiful homes for beautiful people. As always, we give a lot of importance to the lighting of every home – it adds up to at least half the beauty of the home at night. So here is our lighting roundup 2021 – light fittings we’ve used in our projects and where you can find them.
Lighting Roundup 2021
I have often said, that ‘hang it’ is one of my favourite decor mantras. Whether it’s fabric, plants or lights, ‘hanging it’ gives it an ethereal vibe which I find so beautiful. By the number of pendants and chandeliers that you’re going to see in our lighting roundup 2021, you’ll see that I follow my own decor advise quite often!
Metis Suspension
Let me start with the Metis Suspension, which we used in a set of 3 above the dining table of our Mid-Century Modern Home. Though we looked at other ring suspension lights too, none came close to this in terms of beauty and finish. Take a close look at the delicately cut net at the base to let the light through, and you’ll know what I mean.
Figuring out exactly where to drill the holes in the ceiling for all those suspension cords was quite an adventure. It took us almost half a day to get that right, and I could probably write an entire post on that itself. But we thoroughly enjoyed that learning too, and it was well worth the effort.

Moonlight Rendezvous
It’s not often that pets have a say in the selection of the light fittings for a home. So it makes for an interesting story when they do.
We were initially looking for a horizontal light fitting to go above the length of this table. Until our clients reminded us that their cats would jump onto it and happily perch on the fitting like it was the branch of a tree.
What you see here is not just a beautiful pendant light, but also one that we declare cat safe!

Ray Of Light
This kitchen is by far my favourite space from the Mid-Century Modern Home. And these pendants go a long way in helping make it so.
Sleek, simple, understated, yet oh-so glamourous – they fit right into the vibe we created for this space. Notice how the black base and cord contrast and highlight the subtle, ombre shaded glass? So much like the other, minimal black accents in this almost all white kitchen.

Ombre Silver
This lovely ombre silver shade we used in the master bedroom of the Mid-Century Modern Home is yet another subtle and sophisticated pendant.
The silver complements the muted grays and greens of this bedroom beautifully while the mirror finish is a pleasant contrast to all the subtle wood and white finishes.

Good To Glow
These frosted, matt, grey pendant shades play the perfect partner to the luxurious yet earthy aesthetic of this guest bedroom. The colour is just right.
These come with transparent suspension cords which we changed to black to go with all the subtle black highlights used in this space.

Nymane Ceiling Spotlight
This one is my favourite surface spotlight so far. Love the simple design that doesn’t bring too much attention to itself. It’s super easy to adjust and focus on a particular spot, and also very easy on the pocket.
We used it at the entrance of the Mid-Century modern home to highlight their name plate.
We also used it in the ‘art gallery’ we created along the length of the passage in the home. Since all the artwork is on art tracks, which means the positions and the artwork itself can all be changed, we needed the lights to be flexible so that we could focus them on the artwork irrespective of where it is placed. These spotlights worked perfectly.

Continuing our lighting roundup 2021 with all the wall lamps that we have used and loved last year.
Navlinge Black
Let me start with another simple and useful fitting from Ikea. This spotlight comes with a flexi arm and can be fit in two possible ways. You can either use a clamp to fix it on to your headboard or study table. Or use the wall bracket to fit it on the wall.
The flexi arm makes it very useful for a bedside reading lamp, as you can adjust the direction of the light depending on where and how you are lying down. We used the black fitting in this boy’s bedroom.

Navlinge White
We used the white fitting as an additional bedside lamp in this master bedroom. Though the pendant gives a beautiful soft glow, it might not be enough to read. Also, the light is likely to disturb the other partner if one wants to sleep. Since the reading lamp focuses directly on the reading material, it is least likely to cause disturbance to anyone else.
The pendants were the focus in this bedroom, so we went with the white reading lamps to blend in and let the pendants take the attention.

Cerchio
This is another fitting I find simple, small, sweet and very efficient as a bedside reading light. I love how it blends into the wall allowing the artwork to remain in the focus.

Brass Spot Light
We used warm wood tones, traditional prints and brass hardware in this guest bedroom. I love how the brass spotlights along the bedside enhance the traditional vibe of this room.

Ambient Desk Lamp
The idea of this desk lamp is not just to provide light on this study table, but also to make a decorative statement on this extremely large desk. Don’t you think it fits right into this gentle space?

Hiranya Table Lamp
This large bar unit in my home needed proportionately large size lamps to fit in well. I absolutely love these brass beauties we have here. The brass finish goes so well with the antique gold finish behind the cutwork on the bar shutters. And though the shape is simple, the fine etched lines, going in circles around the lamp, add the detail that you see all across this living area.

Vedika Table Lamp
And finally, this lamp from our Shades of Grey Living Room. Do you see how the wood and grey base with the mustard shade fall right into the grey, white, wood, brass elements of this space? Looks like the lamp was made just for this room, doesn’t it?
