Step into kitchen of Mio, and you’re immediately wrapped in a soft blush glow that feels both fresh and familiar. You remember that Mio means cherry blossom, right? Here that spirit blooms quietly through tones that echo the rest of the home.

From this angle, you can even glimpse the blush wall of the foyer beyond — a lovely little reminder of continuity, as if the kitchen is reaching out to say, I belong here too.

The Layout

The kitchen of Mio is laid out as a parallel galley, making the most of its compact footprint while keeping everything within easy reach.

On one side, you’ll find the fridge and cooking wall with the hob and chimney, framed by overhead and base cabinets. Directly opposite, we have the prep and cleaning areas. The tall unit houses the built in appliances while the rolling shutter holds the smaller electronic appliances. Together they form the prep zone of the kitchen.

The dishwasher, along with the sink right next to it make up the cleaning zone.

Kitchen of Mio - layout plan

At the far end, by the window, sits the utility zone—the washing machine and dryer tucked on one side, balanced by a tall storage cupboard on the other. This little nook keeps all laundry and cleaning needs organized and out of sight, yet still easily accessible.

The result? A kitchen that flows intuitively, with every zone carefully defined for both cooking and daily living.

The Cooking Zone

On one side of the kitchen, the cooking zone makes the heart of the home. The blush backsplash sets a soft, welcoming tone, while the creamy quartz countertop offers both elegance and durability. A sleek black chimney anchors the wall, framed neatly with overhead cabinets and open niches for jars and glasses—keeping daily essentials close at hand.

Below, wide drawers provide organized storage for pots, pans, and utensils, while slimmer side drawers hold cutlery and cooking tools. The built-in hob with its compact three-burner design makes everyday cooking effortless, and the thoughtful layout ensures that everything needed to whip up a meal is always within reach.

The refrigerator is placed right at the entrance giving easy access not only to the person who is cooking, but also to anyone on the outside who wants just a drink of water, for instance.

The kitchen of Mio is designed to feel both functional and calming—a perfect blend of practicality and warmth that reflects the cherry blossom soul of Mio.

Prep & Cleaning Zones

On the opposite wall sit the prep and cleaning zones, designed for both efficiency and ease. The generous sink is paired with a built-in dishwasher just below, ensuring cleanup is quick and seamless.

Right next to it, the rolling shutter unit neatly tucks away appliances, keeping the counters clutter-free yet everything within reach when needed. Beyond that, the rolling shutter houses the in built microwave and oven.

At the far end of the kitchen, the utility area extends functionality even further. A stacked washer and dryer maximize vertical space, while a tall storage cabinet on the other side keeps everyday essentials neatly organized. It’s a thoughtful balance of beauty and practicality, making sure every task — from meal prep to laundry — flows smoothly within this space.

The Kitchen of Mio

The blush kitchen of Mio is a study in soft elegance and smart detail. Both walls are lined in matte laminate shutters in a soothing neutral, their sleek finish offset by brushed gold handles that add just the right hint of luxury. The countertops are a durable engineered quartz in a warm beige, tying the cabinetry and backsplash together with a timeless look.

Running across the entire length is a ribbed blush wall tile, adding subtle texture and reinforcing the cherry blossom-inspired theme of the home. It softens the modern straight lines with a gentle warmth, making the kitchen feel inviting. The blush also flows seamlessly from the foyer wall into the kitchen, creating a sense of continuity and calm as you move through the home.

Lighting plays a starring role here. Under-cabinet lights brighten up the worktops for easy cooking. Cove lighting beneath the base cabinets adds a soft glow that makes the floor almost float. Open niches around the hob are gently backlit, turning everyday storage for jars and glasses into an understated design feature. Together, the layers of lighting create a kitchen that’s not just functional but also effortlessly atmospheric—whether you’re cooking a meal or simply pausing for tea.

Before and Afters

Switching it Up!

Before: The old layout had the fridge and cleaning counter squeezed together. The plumbing split across the kitchen with the washing machine on the opposite side.

After: We swapped the cooking and cleaning counters so that all the plumbing now sits neatly on one side. This counter is dedicated to cooking. A smarter flow, and a kitchen that works as beautifully as it looks!

Scrubbed Up in Style!

Before: The old kitchen was functional but basic — dark countertops, exposed piping, and limited organization. It felt more like a stopgap than a long-term solution.

After: Now, the cleaning zone shines with a neatly integrated sink, dishwasher, and endless storage. The blush backsplash keeps the space soft and warm, while under-cabinet and skirting lights make the whole counter glow.

From Makeshift to Made-for-It

Before: The washing machine sat awkwardly in the corner. Surrounded by odds and ends, exposed pipes and covered in a protective sheet. Functional, yes—but far from polished.

After: We brought the entire utility zone inside the kitchen and gave it a proper place. The washer and dryer are now stacked neatly beside the sink, with overhead cabinets keeping essentials tucked away. Finished in the same blush tones as the kitchen, this corner is no longer just practical. It’s polished, cohesive, and homely.

Every corner of Mio’s kitchen balances function with feeling—streamlined layouts, thoughtful storage, and finishes that glow with warmth. What was once just a cooking space is now the heart of the home, infused with a blush charm that ties seamlessly into the rest of the interiors.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about design. It’s about creating spaces that feel lived in, loved, and truly yours.
