There’s something quietly powerful about a well-planned kitchen. It doesn’t call attention to itself, yet everything works beautifully. For Kai, the kitchen needed to reflect exactly that understated sophistication, with an effortless flow that made daily routines lighter and more enjoyable. That’s how we planned the kitchen of Kai.

The Kitchen of Kai
The footprint of the kitchen, a long rectangle measuring 7’6″ x 14’3″, called for precision planning. We approached the layout with intention, placing each zone where it best supported function and rhythm. The hob sits at the heart of the counter, perfectly flanked by the refrigerator on one end and the sink with dishwasher on the other. This classic work triangle was subtly adapted to suit modern needs while keeping movement intuitive.

On the opposite side, a full-length counter houses the crockery unit, tall unit, and service counter. A rolling shutter conceals the small appliances, keeping surfaces clean and minimal. The washing machine and dryer are neatly tucked into a designated utility space, right next to the broom storage and tall unit—a thoughtful detail for daily ease.
Every inch is planned for purpose, yet the space feels open and airy. In Kai’s kitchen, functionality leads, but design follows close behind, softening every edge with calm, curated choices.
A Sleek Balance of Utility and Calm
The kitchen of Kai is a striking example of how thoughtful planning and bold design can completely transform a utilitarian space into something elegant and highly functional. The length of this kitchen is almost double the width. This makes it a linear kitchen. We helped maximize every inch of wall surface and vertical height.
The layout is planned as a single galley line, flanked by the fridge on one side and the sink on the other. The working triangle remains compact and efficient across the hob, sink, and prep counters.

One side of the kitchen houses the primary cooking and cleaning zone, with a centrally placed hob and chimney, dishwasher below the sink, and upper cabinets finished in soft white laminates that brighten the corridor.

On the opposite wall, a dedicated service counter extends into the crockery and small appliance zone.

Key elements here include a rolling shutter appliance garage, tall pantry unit, and integrated ovens—ensuring minimal clutter on the worktops.

The design language throughout is clean, contemporary, and streamlined, yet infused with visual richness through material play. The bold blue base units, sleek brass handles, and pristine white quartz countertops provide a crisp, modern foundation, while the hand-glazed ceramic backsplash tiles in a mosaic of teal and navy blues add a soulful artisan texture.

Paired with wood-finish tile flooring that runs the length of the room, the palette balances freshness with warmth.
Before and Afters: A Functional Facelift for the Kitchen of Kai
The original kitchen, while practical, bore the weight of dated cabinetry and visible utilities. The mix of dark and pale laminates lacked cohesion, and the layout felt cramped and closed in. Storage felt limited, and the overall aesthetic leaned heavily utilitarian.

In contrast, the renovated space embraces symmetry, elegance, and warmth. Soft white uppers balance the rich Prussian blue base units, anchored by sleek brass handles. With the hob moved centrally and the dishwasher neatly tucked under the counter, the result is not only efficient but visually expansive—a graceful transformation that feels brighter, bolder, and beautifully modern.

The service side of the kitchen was clutter-prone and visually disjointed, with a mix of finishes and ad hoc storage solutions making the space feel tight and uninspired. The utility zone was functional but lacked finesse.

This once-overlooked stretch was reimagined into a sleek, extended counter with seamless cabinetry and integrated tall storage. A bold patterned backsplash in inky blues adds visual rhythm and character, drawing the eye while unifying the design. The washing machine is neatly tucked in beside the appliance tower, with the microwave and oven stacked thoughtfully above drawers for efficient meal prep flow.

Designing Kai’s kitchen was about more than functionality. It was about bringing intention and joy back into a space that sees daily use, often under pressure.
We chose finishes that balance vibrancy with restraint. The deep blue base cabinets ground the space, while patterned tiles and quartz counters lift it with texture and brightness. Every corner now serves a purpose, whether it’s the hidden tall unit beside the washing machine or the rolling shutter concealing countertop appliances. It’s a kitchen that not only works better, but feels better to be in.
