A Very Happy New Year, guys! I can’t think of a better way to bring in a new year, than to share a beautifully designed space with you. So here is the Guest Room of Bhargavi.
Guest Room of Bhargavi
Putting thought to paper, watching it come to life, and seeing the joy on clients’ faces as they walk into their ‘new’ home… these are my absolute happy highs. It’s why I do what I do every single day. I am so, so grateful for all the work that I was able to do last year.. and I hope and pray that I will get to do even more in this one!
And so I’m starting this year, with another beautiful space I am so proud of.. the guest room of Bhargavi.
The Plan
This room, though smaller in size, is almost a mirror image of the master bedroom. So, though it has the open, airy vibe thanks to the two windows, it doesn’t have that extra passageway that helped us make place for all our furniture there.
Since two of the walls have windows, we used the other two walls to place the large furniture pieces. A bed right in front of the door is avoidable, so the wardrobe went along that wall, and the bed on the other.
Right next to the bed, we have the entrance door to the bathroom. Which means we didn’t have enough place to keep a bedside table here. So we have only one bedside table, to the left of the bed.
As with the master bedroom, the television went on the corner wall, between the two windows.
The Bed Wall
Since the entrance door to the room and bathroom are placed side by side, the bed automatically gets pushed towards one side of the room.
The bedside table fits into the corner between the bed and the wall. On the other side, we have almost no space between the bed and the bathroom door. Which means no side table on this end.
In fact, if you notice, we didn’t even have enough place to put all the switches, so we placed the switch plates vertically along the headboard.
The far corner allowed enough space to fit in a pendant light. On the door end, we have a small reading light which barely takes any space and is handy when required.
The TV Wall
Opposite the bed, between the two windows, we have the TV unit.
We intentionally did not centre the TV to the unit, so that it is as close to the centre of the bed as possible. If it’s too much to one side, TV viewing can be a little uncomfortable.
We used a large plant to fill in the empty space to its left.
The Wardrobes
The wardrobes are placed along the entrance wall to the bedroom. They are finished in the same veneer used across the home. The veneer is so beautiful that we didn’t do anything to it at all. The beautiful veins of the veneer adorned with simple, black handles is design enough for the space. And the rich colour adds a lovely warmth to the room.
Look and Feel
The colour scheme of this room started with this magical rug. I noticed its mysterious colours only when taking pictures. Scroll up and down, and you’ll see that the rug looks predominantly blue when seen from any side. When I clicked this pic from right above it, I noticed the beige undertones wondrously coming to life!
The blue rug had us select the deep blue bedcover as a base for all the patterned bedding.
We have light geometric patterns on the headboard and quilt, and bolder ones on the cushions. The artwork adds a pop of colour.
Overall, the vibe of the guest room of Bhargavi is understated, yet bold and bright. It’s both, a vibrant and restful place for guests to call their home.
