We’re finally here with our garden style vintage bedroom reveal, and very excited to be sharing it with you. This bedroom was a surprise package even to me, because we’ve landed up at the exact opposite end of where we started off from.
If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, you must read the introductory post to this bedroom before you read this reveal post. In short, Krishna wanted a Scandinavian style room with simple, straight lines and lots of whites and greys… and this is what she eventually got.
No straight lines, no simplicity and a refreshing burst of colour!
Garden Style Vintage Bedroom Reveal:
So what happened to all things Scandinavian? Basically, this gorgeous wallpaper took over.
But let me show you the plan before I get to that.
The Plan:
There wasn’t much we could do with the plan. Everything pretty much found it’s own place here, because it had nowhere else to go! Hop over to part 1 of this bedroom to for how we went about planning the Scandinavian look.
Until Krishna said she liked this wallpaper.
The Wallpaper:
I couldn’t believe my eyes. It isn’t often that you get a client willing to move away from the simple and traditional and try something dramatic and different. And this wallpaper is one I’ve always loved and always wanted to use myself.
I had to make the best of this opportunity. I also had to make sure that I didn’t overdo it. After all, Krishna likes Scandinavian. She was going totally out of her comfort zone for the love of this wallpaper. I really didn’t want to disappoint her.
So we decided to not do anything over the top. The wallpaper was the hero, and that’s what we’d focus on. We would bring the wallpaper to life!
We picked the three main elements we saw as images on the wallpaper, and put them into the room in reality.
The Lights:
The first, most obvious element, were the lights. See all those beautiful pendants hanging all over the wallpaper? We decided to hang real ones in front of it.
These Bert and Bram pendants by Voylite fit the bill perfectly and our wallpaper started coming to life.
The Jaali:
The second element we noticed was the pretty jaali pattern all over the wallpaper. It’s on the top edge of this pic below, just above the arches. You can also see it in the larger pics of the whole wall above.
We customised our headboard with the same design in cutwork, and brought the jaali to life too.
The Colours:
The third element we used in the room were the pretty colours.
The pink and gold are quite obvious. We went with beige – gold tones in the bedcover and curtains. They made a perfect neutral backdrop for our little pops of colour.
The soft blues and greens in the background are less obvious, but they help to break the monotony of the pink and gold. We used hints of blues in our quilt and cushion and used a minty green runner at the side of the bed to bring these out.
Our wallpaper walked right into our room and I like to believe that we’ve blurred the lines of where one ends and the other begins!
The Wardrobe:
We decided to go really simple with the rest of the room so as not to take anything away from our showstopper wall. The wardrobes are white, with a bit of mirror work to reflect the beauty of the wallpaper and to add a little more depth to the small room.
We chose these pretty handles to add a touch of vintage charm.
The TV Unit:
The TV unit is Scandinavian inspired simplicity. Anything more would have been too much in this room. The curtains are also simple textured fabric in beige and gold.
Before & After:
And that is our garden style vintage bedroom reveal. It wouldn’t be complete without some before and afters, so here goes.
Let’s start with the wardrobe wall…
… on which we have our simple white wardrobe with a little bit of mirror paneling on it.
The TV wall is also almost untouched..
… except for the simple TV unit that is easy on the eyes.
The wall leading to the balcony has large sliding doors…
… which we’ve dressed up with curtains that add to the golden glow of the room with their simple texture.
And our bed wall…
Which is now the showstopper of the room.
I am really happy and proud of how this room has turned out. What do you think? Did we do good? Did we bring the wallpaper to life? I’d love to hear what you think about our garden style vintage bedroom reveal. So do write in with questions and comments below.
