A new project reveal is always exciting, and I am thrilled to be sharing with you this cozy home for a family of four. Let’s start our tour of this dazzling space, with the entrance and foyer of Vivid.
Entrance and Foyer of Vivid
When naming a project, I try to close my eyes and focus on the first thing that comes to my mind when I picture the home. With this home, it was the vivid colours. From the emerald greens in the living room, the jewel toned blue kitchen, the inky blues and peaches of the master bedroom to the deep wood tones with bold gold accents we have used across the home, each space is brilliantly vivid. And they all come together beautifully to make this splendid home.
Let me show you a glimpse of what’s to come, with the entrance and foyer of Vivid.
The Plan
The foyer is just about a small passageway through which you enter the home. We put a long sideboard along the wall. This is topped with a mirror with a wall sconce on either side to complete this simple space.
The Doorway
But, before you enter the foyer, you first get through the door. With little kids in the home, the clients wanted a safety door for sure.
We designed this stunning semi circular safety grill, placed along one side of the door. The horizontal grooves in the veneer are a contrast to the arched grill, and yet so in tune with the radial lines along the entire arch of the grill.
The black finish is a vivid contrast against that beautiful redwood veneer. We added a simple black main door handle to go with the grill.
Though we knew that the grill would be a show stopper, we had not imagined, in our wildest dreams, the beautiful shadow that would be thrown on the foyer floor every time you open the door. This design element is completely unplanned, and I love how it makes the foyer look so dramatic.
The Foyer
The foyer itself is simple, yet stunning. There is a long sideboard which has drawers for keys and knick-knacks and shelves for shoe storage. We used a fluted wooden finish to match the veneer.
All the gold elements are striking against that dark wood.
The gentle, inverted scallops on the mirror edge soften all the straight lines seen everywhere else. Along with those lovely sconces, I love how all the gold finishes glam up the foyer.
Before and Afters
A view of the main door from inside the home…
That smashing grill makes quite a statement, with the beautiful shadows on the floor adding their very own design element.

We’ve placed a long foyer cabinet along the entire wall. The mirror and wall sconces, along with the lovely planter, add rich gold accents to the wood tones and glam up the entire space. The wooden frame given to the entryway helps to distinctly separate the foyer from the living room.

Instead of only being a passageway, it now is it’s own complete space with it’s unique identity… and it looks lovely no matter where you see it from!
Get The Look
We designed all of the furniture you’ve seen here, and had it custom made on site. But we did pick the accents off the shelf. Here are links to the glamourous gold pieces we’ve used in this foyer.
