Diwali is just round the corner and it’s the season of lights and love, food and festivity, family and friends and giving and getting. It’s the time of the year when we call friends and family we haven’t been in touch with all year round. The only time in the year we clean up every corner of our home. It’s the time we don’t count our calories, ignore an extra drink and take a break from eating healthy. And the one time every year that we lovingly select gifts for the people close to our hearts. So if you’re looking for a great Diwali gift idea you’re lucky to have landed up here.
A Diwali gift idea for me has to be beautiful and luxurious. I prefer it to have a traditional Indian touch. It must be of great quality. And if it can also be useful, nothing like it.
Welcome to Rangana by Spaces
Rangana is a limited edition bed linen collection launched by Spaces especially for the festive season. It celebrates 6 different Indian art forms from different regions across the country.
Gulrana is inspired by the Kashmiri art of papier-mâché. The mashed paper based handicraft that decorated homes in the olden days, continues to adorn yours today.
Gulrana collection personifies the richness and exquisite beauty of floral gardens.
I teamed it up with a Kashmiri embroidered shawl used as a throw on my headboard. Add a string of fairy lights and I had my bedroom looking rich and festive in no time!
You can browse through the entire Gulrana collection here.
Debjani is inspired from one of the oldest forms of embroidery – ‘Kantha’.
Kantha originates from eastern India and goes back to ancient pre-Vedic era. Reds, greens and pretty paisleys are all Indian and everything festive you can think of.
I used an embroidered dupatta in the same colours to adorn my headboard. A couple of bright orange cushion covers and my room looks lit for Diwali!

More From Rangana
Then you have the Vallam collection, inspired by Tanjore paintings and the Ajrakh collection, inspired by a unique form of block printing from Ajrakhpur. The Madhubani and Patachitra collections are inspired by the respective art forms, as their names suggest.
‘Rangana‘ is all about traditional Indian art forms in bold, bright colours, and so, according to me, makes the perfect Diwali gift idea.
But then, you do know that I love all kinds of colour and pattern.
So what happens if you don’t? What if you don’t want all this colour, pattern and print? What if you prefer lighter, simpler and more minimalist?
Spaces Bed Linen
Spaces bed linen still makes a great Diwali gift idea. Over the last couple of months I’ve had the chance to try out a whole lot of their bed sheets. Whatever type from whichever collection I picked, they all had two things in common.
1 – The finish is impeccable. Even stitches, neat edges, equal borders… when the little details are taken care of the end result always looks polished and luxurious.
2 – All the sheets are incredibly soft. Creamy, silky, smooth, velvety… I can use a whole lot of synonyms, but you have to feel the sheets to believe it.
Pick From Hygrocotton
These sheets have hollow core cotton yarn which means these incredibly soft sheets get softer with every wash.
They also facilitate airflow which helps to keep an even temperature when you sleep. These are available in sweet solids and pretty ombre shades.
You can see all of the Hygrocotton range here.
Bamboo Charcoal
This fabric is made by drying and burning bamboo plants to make charcoal. The charcoal is processed into nano particles which are embedded into the cotton or polyester fibres of your sheet.
This makes the bedsheets naturally anti-odour and anti-microbial.
And they are very, VERY soft.
These are available in predominantly grey and black shades, and the vivid patterns are exactly the kind I would use to brighten up a neutral room.
You can go through the Bamboo Charcoal range of bed linen here.
Easy Stain Release
The name says it all, and these sheets are the perfect Diwali gift idea for a home with little kids or pets.
You would assume that this range would mostly be available in dark colours so that it doesn’t stain easily in the first place. But you’ll find soft designs in pretty pastels too.
You can find the entire Easy Stain Release collection here.
Diwali Gift Idea
And that’s what I really love about Spaces bed linen. There is something for everyone in every type of colour, style and design. Go bright, ethnic and patterned or simple, soft and minimalist. What remains constant is the quality and comfort.
Which makes it the perfect kind of Diwali gift for anyone special.
My fave is most definitely the Rangana collection. I can see myself using so many of those beautiful prints in my own home and in projects in the future.

Very soothing prints. Would like to buy for Diwali.
Aren’t they SO pretty!?
