I am told very often that I have an unusual way of mixing and matching fabrics and furnishings. And many of you have told me you like it. So this post is for all of you who do. Today I have 8 beautiful blue bedding combinations here that you can shop from.
8 Beautiful Blue Bedding Combinations
Since so many of you have written to me over time saying you love the way I mix colours and patterns, I thought today I would do it for you.
Why blue though? Well, we’ve read many times over that blue is the world’s favourite colour. So more of you are likely to have a blue bedroom in your home than any other colour. (I have one blue bedroom in my home too!) By going with blue bedding combinations, we’re just trying to make sure that this post is useful to as many of you as possible.
Each of the combinations below includes a bedcover, a quilt or throw and two cushion covers.
You could choose any one cushion cover and get a pair of them. Or place a pair of one type on either side with a single cushion of the second type between them. Or even get a pair of each and layer them one in front of the other.
So let’s get started.
1 – Timeless Traditional
As the name suggests, the colours and prints of this set are something you can imagine in a home with traditional Indian decor. Very often though, you get these in ready sets. A bedcover with the exact same print on the pillow covers and cushion covers too.
I always think that sets like that become a bit too much. When I am gifted such a set, I usually use the bedcover with other cushion covers and the cushion covers with another bedspread.
I’ve selected a striped bedcover here with traditional motifs on the cushions and quilt. Even though the colours are the same, the simple stripes make a good base for the printed cushions and quilt so that the patterns are not overdone.

2 – Cool Coastal
We’ve taken stripes again for our second set, and given it a totally different look. Here we’ve got polka dots and basic geometrics to give a cool, casual, lighter and younger feel to this combination.

3 – Chic Shibori
We have a single colour bedspread here, made interesting by that delicate cutwork pattern all over. The white base of the blanket and the cushion covers help them to stand out against the inky blue bedspread. And their tie-and-dye type prints help tie them all together.

4 – Pretty Pastels
The soft, powdery blues of this combination would fit in easily into any space. I can see this working well for a sophisticated master bedroom, a pretty room for a teen girl or even a comfortably neutral guest bedroom.
The bedcover has a self woven design on it. So though it looks almost plain, the soft pattern ensures it doesn’t look flat. The patterns on the other three pieces are all very different from each other, but being in the same colour family brings them together well.

5 – Inky Indigo
The deep, blackish blue of this set had me mesmerised. It’s a deep, rich colour that’s almost a neutral. That most of the bedcover is white makes it perfect for a space you would want to keep largely neutral with a hint of colour.

6 – Trendy Threads
This bedcover has my heart. Traditional tie and dye and kantha work in an elementary, modern pattern is just the kind of mix-and-match that I like.
I’ve mixed up the patterns on the other elements too. The thick stripes of one cushion cover make the perfect backdrop for the delicate embroider on the other. And the polka dotted stripes on the throw carry forward the stripes of the dyed pattern and the threadwork on the bedcover.

7 – Midnight Magic
Continuing with our deep blues, we have this bedcover, the colour of the midnight sky. The solid colour here is broken by the handsome applique work on its body. With the splash of colour on the quilt and the elementary geometrics on the cushion covers, you could easily use a set like this for an older boy’s room.

8 – Fresh Floral
We wrap up our collection of blue bedding combinations with this charming, botanic beauty. The soft colours and delicate print will keep your room looking fresh and summery all year long.
I took the longest time selecting the accessories to go with this bedcover. I didn’t want a geometric or another floral with this pretty print. And all the solid colours looked just too flat. I finally found this delightfully textured throw that is just the right colour and it’s breezy, wind swept look fits in perfectly here.
The patterned cushion cover and the lightly sequinned lumbar pillow then just fell into place.
