As promised in my first post in the ‘Affordable Art’ series, I’m back with another collection of my favourite affordable artwork. Given the unstoppable rain for the last couple of months, this time it’s a collection of monsoon paintings.
My Favourite Monsoon Paintings:
There is a certain charm to the monsoon. In reality, (at least to a Mumbaikar) rains means puddles, water logging, delayed trains and buses and a whole lot of traffic on roads full of potholes. Yet, when we think of the rains we think of waterfalls, romantic walks through floating clouds and garam chai and pakoras with friends. The romance of the rains is forever, come what may. And artwork that reminds you of the rains is a great way to get that romance into your home.
So here are my picks of my favourite monsoon paintings for this season. Some of them are rainy day pics, and then some just remind me of the rains in one way or another.
Paintings of Rain:
Love the little burst of pink there.. almost like it’s reminding us of the romance under that umbrella. The silhouette of this girl standing in solitude is one of my faves from this lot. And the painting below.. can you also see the swing in her step? Or am I the only one imagining it?
There’s a reason why ‘Raindrops on roses…’ is the beginning of a song about favourite things. Raindrops would definitely score on my list of favourites too.
And I think something similar can be said about ripples in water.
Paintings of Foliage:
Drive across any countryside after even a single shower, and you’ll notice how all the barren, brown, dusty hills and plains suddenly turn all shades of green. Monsoons mean thick forests,
… lush foliage,
and a carpet of green over all of Mother Earth.
Monsoon Blues:
The last category in this collection of monsoon paintings has to be the blues. Can anyone ever get tired of this colour? So many shades, each of which can tell a different story, evoke a different feeling and create a different mood.
So we have some beautiful abstracts in blue..
Some pretty flora…
And unusual fauna in beautifully happy monsoon blues and greens.
.
That wraps up my picks of monsoon paintings for this season. I’m sure you realise that it’s difficult to pick some 20 odd paintings from the thousands available online. What I end up doing is picking the few that instantly catch my eye. I let my heart decide, instead of thinking, analysing and letting the decision be taken by the head. After all, art is more about feeling and less about logic.
So I hope you enjoyed this collection as much as I did. And I hope looking at these paintings make you as happy as it does me! Let me know which your favourite is, and why if you have a reason, in the comments below.
I’ll be back with another collection of affordable art soon, and you can see all the posts of the Affordable Art Series by clicking here.
Until then,
