A guest room that moonlights as a study—because why should any space settle for just one role? The guest room of Mio is a bit of a multitasker—the overachiever, if you will.

By day, it’s a study where work deadlines and coffee cups share space. By night (or whenever guests arrive), it transforms into a cozy retreat with a sofa that secretly doubles up as a bed. Add in walls that wink with movie posters, and a vibe that says “stay a while,” and you’ve got yourself a room that does it all—without breaking a sweat.

The Layout

This guest room of Mio is small but mighty — every inch has been cleverly put to work. As you walk in, the study table sits neatly to your left, paired with a wardrobe just beside it for extra storage (because we never expect our guests to travel light!)

Along the wardrobe, a sectional sofa-cum-bed takes center stage — doubling up as a cozy lounging spot by day and a comfortable bed by night. In front of it, the coffee table anchors the room, perfect for books, chai, or a late-night chat.

Opposite we have a bookshelf-cum-TV unit. So whether you’re catching up on Netflix or novels, the room’s got you covered. And tucked into the corner is a little mandir — a serene touch that balances out the multitasking energy of the space.

It’s a compact 11’11” x 9’11”, but designed like a multitool — ready to flip between study, lounge, and guest room with ease.

The Study Area

If there’s one corner in the guest room of Mio that knows how to multitask better than most of us, it’s this one. On one side, you’ve got a smart wooden desk with a cane-back chair that says “I mean business” (but also, “I’ll happily double up as a coffee spot”). The shelves and drawers below are right where you need them — handy for all those study essentials, books, and maybe even a sneaky stash of snacks.

And then, just above, the wardrobe steps in as the perfect guest ally. Fresh towels, extra pillows, spare blankets — it’s all neatly tucked away, so visitors feel right at home without anyone running around looking for “that one spare bedsheet.”

And just so this little corner doesn’t get too serious with all its “study/work” vibes, the wall is dotted with quirky movie posters. Because let’s be honest, sometimes “Kill Bill” or “Sholay” is the only kind of inspiration you need to get through a long workday. This is a study that doesn’t just get the job done — it does it with a wink.

The Corner of Rest

By day, this corner is the life of the party. A cozy sectional sofa where you can curl up with a book, sip chai, or binge-watch an old Bollywood classic. (Yes, the posters on the wall set the mood perfectly). Throw in a couple of cushions with bold patterns and sunny pops of yellow. You’ve got yourself a spot that practically says, “Come on in, let’s hang out.”

But when night falls, this sofa does a Clark Kent-to-Superman transformation. In just a few easy moves, it becomes a full-fledged bed. It’s ready to host family, friends, or that cousin who “just needs to crash for a night.” The round coffee table and cheerful rug ground the whole setup. They make sure this corner isn’t just functional, but also a total vibe.

And the best part? The dual-purpose design keeps the room feeling light and open during the day, while secretly being always ready to moonlight as a comfy guest bedroom. It’s the ultimate case of “work hard, lounge harder.”

Bookshelves and Mandir

Now let’s swivel around to the other side of the room, where calm meets character. Tucked neatly into one corner is a compact pooja unit – a little sanctuary within the space. Perfect for that quiet moment of prayer before diving back into emails or movie marathons.

Right next to it, we designed a bookshelf-meets-TV unit that knows how to multitask just as well as the room itself. The open shelves show off collectibles, brass accents, and books. (Because no shelf is complete without a little wisdom and a little whimsy). The cane-front shutters keep the not-so-pretty stuff hidden away. The TV sits framed like a piece of art, ready to switch from bhajans to Bollywood at the click of a button.

The bookshelves here get a little extra drama with concealed LED strips tucked under each shelf. It’s subtle enough not to scream “spotlight!” but bright enough to make your books, curios, and travel finds look like they’re on their own little stage.

The bookshelves are equal parts poise and practicality – a corner that works as hard as it looks good.

Guest Room of Mio – The Vibe

This room is all about warmth, texture, and a little bit of drama. The palette leans earthy with wood tones and woven finishes. The blush tones in the upholstery echo Mio’s signature cherry blossom theme. They carry the soft, romantic thread seamlessly into the guest room.

The round rug brings a pop of mustard and floral motifs. It ties together the space with a hint of old-world charm. It grounds the space beautifully—adding warmth underfoot while tying together the room’s playful yet elegant vibe.

Textures play a starring role here. Cane panels on the wardrobe, a terrazzo-style tabletop, patterned cushions, and that floral rug keep the space layered and inviting. And then there are the walls. White and minimal, the act as the perfect backdrop for the bold, quirky movie posters that add personality and spark.

The cane details, warm wood grains, and soft fabric choices echo finishes used across Mio. They create a sense of continuity. So even though this room has its own personality, it still feels like part of the same story.

The overall vibe? Cozy yet stylish, functional yet playful. Here you can host a guest, binge-watch a series, or sit down with your laptop and feel inspired.

Before and Afters

Before: A bulky wardrobe hogged the wall, topped with the usual suspects—boxes and bags that never quite found their way inside.

After: Out went the heavy wardrobe, and in came a breezy, functional study corner. Sleek desk, rattan-detailed storage, pops of movie posters, and just enough shelf space to keep books (and your sanity) in order. Now this wall doesn’t just store things—it sparks ideas.

Before: A bulky bed that hogged all the floor space, leaving little room for anything else. Dark curtains blocked out natural light, and the room felt more like a storage zone than a welcoming guest retreat.

After: The bed has been gracefully retired to make way for the sectional sofa-cum-bed — a multitasking marvel that does more with less. By day, it’s a lounging nook; by night, it flips into a snug guest bed. Add in blush-toned curtains, a round patterned rug, and cushions that pack a punch. This space isn’t just functional — it’s fabulous.

Before: The wall had a lonely mirror, a few shelves, and curtains doing all the heavy lifting.

After: Enter the showstopper—an elegant TV unit framed in warm wood and cane. It doubles up as bookshelves and display nooks. Add in the carved pooja corner, soft blush curtains, and thoughtful lighting, and suddenly the wall isn’t just holding a TV. It’s telling a story.

From “let’s make do” ➝ to “let’s show off.”

And that’s the guest room of Mio — a total shape-shifter. By day, it’s a study corner with movie posters for inspo, by night it flips into a comfy guest bed. The round coffee table and rug keep things warm and grounded, while the blush tones quietly echo Mio’s cherry blossom vibe.

The real star though? That TV wall — part pooja corner, part bookshelf, part display, and a whole lot of cozy. The concealed LEDs give it that evening glow, like the room is winding down with you.

Guest room, study, lounge — call it what you like. Around here, it’s just everyone’s favorite hangout. Proof that small rooms don’t need big compromises — just smart design.
