Every master bedroom we design begins with a quiet conversation between architecture and lifestyle. At Kai, the client envisioned a calming retreat—one that could hold personal rhythm, elegant functionality, and a subtle, almost tactile warmth, so that’s how we designed the master bedroom of Kai.

Master Bedroom of Kai – Layout Plan
The room, measuring 10′ x 14′-3″, had good bones and a generous window line, offering us an ideal canvas to sculpt comfort into structure.
The layout balances symmetry and intention. The bed is placed centrally on the longer wall, flanked by slim tables. It lies alongside the window to allow morning light to gently spill in. A wardrobe lines the entry wall, maximizing storage without obstructing the flow.

On the opposite side, a neat study table nestles against the window—ideal for quiet reading or light work. Just behind it, a compact dresser with a mirror completes the zone, adding both utility and elegance to the corner. The overall plan is straightforward but layered, setting the tone for a room that feels both airy and cocooned, grounded and elevated.
The Bed Wall
The layout is anchored by a plush bed positioned against the far wall, with both symmetry and balance guiding our approach. On one side is a classic nightstand. It’s small so that it doesn’t get in the way of opening the wardrobe.

Towards the window we have a graceful study table that tucks perfectly into the corner. Overhead, we introduced storage in the form of a clean, white shutter cabinet with an open walnut-finished ledge.

Across from the bed lies a full-length wardrobe in a satin-finish white, designed to disappear into the wall and create a visual expanse.

At the window end, we tucked in a delicately carved dresser and mirror—bringing a soft vintage note to the room. Thoughtfully layered sheers and drapery filter the sunlight, adding fluidity and softness to the space.

A Palette Rooted in Calm and Contrast
The master bedroom of Kai is wrapped in a refreshing, textural interplay of blues, whites, and deep woods—every element speaking to a quiet strength and a love for artisanal touches.
We began with a subtle silver-grey textured wallpaper that anchors the room in softness while giving the perfect backdrop for our signature indigo palette. The bed, with its patterned ikat-upholstered headboard in shades of blue and maroon, becomes the room’s heartbeat—warm, layered, and unabashedly bold. Framed tribal artworks in blue and white above it echo its palette, adding visual rhythm and continuity.

The wooden furniture—a rich walnut-toned study table and a delicate dresser—adds a classic warmth to the room. Paired with traditional turned legs and antique-style knobs, these pieces gently nod to nostalgia without veering into the ornate. The carved mirror above the dresser has a vintage vibe with an antique brass finish. It adds old-world charm and contrast against the otherwise clean-lined space.

Drapes in a light denim blue with a medallion pattern frame the tall window, layered with sheer white curtains to allow natural light to pour in while preserving privacy. And finally, the floor—sleek white marble with faint grey veining—is softened underfoot by a handwoven dhurrie rug in a striking indigo and ivory pattern.

The wardrobe shutters are subtly textured. They are finished in a clean matte white laminate in the upper half with flutes on the lower half of the wardrobe. The sleek champagne gold handles add a touch of glam. This choice keeps the room feeling light and uncluttered, visually balancing the stronger textiles and wood tones.

This is a space where colour and texture do all the talking. Deep blues for serenity, natural textures for grounding, and handcrafted finishes for soul.
From Basic to Bespoke: A Master Bedroom Before & After
When we first walked into this room, it was a blank canvas. Its white walls and simple furniture were functional but devoid of character. A basic white bed with built-in storage, fluorescent lighting, and patterned curtains framed a setting. This felt more like a stopgap than a sanctuary. It was clear that the space had potential, but it lacked intention.

Fast forward to today, and this room tells an entirely different story. The transformation isn’t just in the finishes—it’s in how the room feels. The bed is now crowned with a custom-designed headboard in an indigo Ikat fabric. It instantly anchors the space with texture and personality. Artworks above the bed create a focal point, while brass wall sconces lend a touch of timeless elegance.

Before: A cluttered wardrobe with miscellaneous items stacked above gave the old space a sense of visual noise.

The new wardrobe is a study in restraint and refinement. It is a full-height, built-in unit with concealed storage above, clean white shutters, and elegant brass handles. By shifting the AC to the wall opposite the bed, we made space for a full storage. We also brought a sense of calm to the entrance view.

Designing this bedroom was an exercise in quiet transformation — a space where comfort and character now meet in gentle harmony. From the layered blues to the handcrafted headboard, every detail was chosen to evoke calm and continuity.
Where there was once a space simply to sleep, now stands a deeply personal retreat, crafted with care, balance, and an abundance of quiet charm.
