This Sunday is Mother’s Day. I’m sure many of you have already given a lot of thought to what you’re going to give mom. You’ve probably even bought your gifts, wrapped them up and kept them ready for Sunday. And then there will be some like me… I get so caught up in work and all the other stuff that the days go by and I sometimes forget what date it is. I realised this weekend that there is just a week to go and I haven’t even begun to think of mother’s day gift ideas.
So I got on to the net and started searching for stuff mom might like. While doing that I realised there will be many of you who are in the same boat as me. And so I’m sharing all of what I liked here. These are 51 amazing Mother’s Day gift ideas for mom… beautiful stuff that I would like for myself too. So pick and click.. and you might just make your mom really happy!
Mother’s Day Gift Ideas:
This IS a home decor blog, so most of the mother’s day gift ideas I’ve got here are for the home. There was so much cool stuff I found and everything was getting jumbled up when I put it down. So I’ve tried to roughly divide the gifts into different categories so that it’s easier to search through them. I’ve got a short description of each product for you. You can click on the name of the product to buy it online. Let’s get straight to it.
Green Gifts:
I think plants make the best kind of gifts for any occasion, so we must definitely have them on our list of Mother’s Day gift ideas. There are hundreds of different plants and thousands of plant accessories you can gift and I couldn’t possibly get all of them in one single blog post. If I had to pick one of each type, these would be it.
Let’s start with gifting actual plants.
1 – Bougainvillea by Nursery Live: These are great to gift to someone who has just started taking an interest in plants because they require such little care or pampering. They’re also great for plant lovers because I haven’t met one yet who doesn’t like bougainvillea. They’re available in loads of different colours. I have potted 2 plants of 2 different colours in one large pot in my home. So you can pick just one favourite colour, or mix up different colours and they will look beautiful anyway. Bougainvillea will need a large pot and loads of sunlight to grow well. So make sure she has the floor space and a balcony or window with direct sunlight before you choose this.
2 – Terra Cotta Money Plant Cream by Nurturing Green: This is again a super easy plant to grow and to propogate. I started out with about 3 pots and have about a dozen now. So a great plant for newbies and plant pros alike. I also love the pretty pot this comes in.
3 – Cream Rain Drops Succulent by Nurturing Green: Succulents are again low maintenance plants and small in size, which means they can be kept even on a little shelf, window ledge or table top.
4 – Terrarium Kit by My Bageecha: Don’t you love pretty terrariums? Now imagine if you could make one yourself. My Bageecha has a whole lot of DIY terrarium kits to choose from, which will make great gifts!
5 – Brass Planter by Jaypore: This black and brass planter is perfect, no matter what decor style you have. It will fit in as well with ethnic Indian decor as with modern and minimalistic.
6 – Hanging Wire Planter by Indecrafts: My favourite way to display plants, especially in Mumbai flats where there is little floor space, is to hang them from the ceiling. This hanging planter is great for that!
7- Macrame Pot Hanger by Copper Fringe: I have used this one myself in this beautiful bedroom project recently, and I can vouch for how beautiful it is!
Tea & Coffee:
My mom loves tea. So naturally, I spent some time looking for tea things she might like. And I found enough stuff to make a separate ‘Tea & Coffee’ section in this list of Mother’s Day gift ideas. Here are my fave!
8 – Tea Pot by Bar World: These porcelain tea pots with cane handles are an absolute beauty. Available in loads of colours and designs, you’ll definitely find one you love.
9 – Ceramic Kullad by World Art Community: Drinking tea in a kullad has it’s own charm… and if they’re as pretty as this one, it’s a no brainer!
10 – Nilgiri Coffee Set by World Art Community: If you need kullad to have your chai, you definitely need this brass coffee set to have your coffee. If mom is a coffee lover, this delicately etched beauty is a must!
11 – Birdie Coasters by The Wishing Chair: I loved this set of 6 wooden ‘swallows’… minimalistic and so pretty.
12 – Chyrsanthemum Cake Stand by Freedom Tree: Tea is incomplete without cake and cookies and these cake stands make a great gift.
13 – Two Tiered Dessert Stand by Studio Coppre: The wood and hand-beaten copper is a combination to die for and makes this simple dessert stand so, so special.
Candles & Diffusers:
Candles are another favourite with me. I can never have enough, and I’m always more than happy to receive candle gifts. These are a few (or a lot!) than I picked for now.
14 – Hurricane Lamp by Studio Coppre: This time around, the copper is combined with glass to give us this beauty. A traditional lamp style candle holder in modern design, this one would look good anywhere.
15 – Metal Diyas by Jaypore: It’s a set of 6 diyas, a pair each in copper, brass and nickle finish. Again, a modern take to a traditional gift.. I’m in love!
16 – Brass Dhuna by Good Earth: Its perforated top helps to disperse the aroma of the ‘dhoop’ which you burn inside it. It would look great and be extremely useful in the puja room, entryway or even living area, keeping it smelling fresh all the time.
17 – Beehive Candle Holder by Lohasmith: This is another design which will fit into any style of decor and look gorgeous anywhere.
18 – Sparkle Dust Fairy Light Canister by The Wishing Chair: These tea light holders are cute and small, just about 4″ x 4″. They are available in 3 pretty colours – blue, pink and white. You could use them singly or in a cluster. Keep them on shelves or hang them by that rope handle. There are many ways to make them look pretty!
19 – Gas Stove Diffuser by Exclusive Lane: Isn’t this one just too cute? Put some water with a few drops of aroma oil into the kettle. Then light up a tea light below, and sit back and enjoy the beautiful fragrance.
20 – Copper Plated Candle Jars by Jaypore: Love the earthy, rustic look of these. Those jars will continue to make beautiful storage jars for knick-knacks long after the lavender scented candles burn out.
21 – Concrete Tea Light Holders by Aatachi: Concrete with the iron finish makes for another unusual and stylish combination… absolutely loving it!
(Did you think I was done with the candles? I meant it when I said I could never have enough!! 🙂 )
22 – Brass and Marble Tea Light Holders by Jaypore: Look at that picture, does anything need to be said? Classical.. timeless.. the type you can hand down to your kids. (So if you’re giving it to your mom, she’ll probably hand them down to you! 😉 )
23 – Moroccan Lantern by Indecraft: I’m into all things Moroccan these days.. and especially love this one because of it’s simple straight lines.
24 – Hanging Lotus by Lohasmith: I’m also very much into all things hanging. This pretty lotus holds 5 tea lights.. I can picture how beautiful it will look glowing in a corner.
25 – Kalamkari Holders by Kolorobia: This is just one of the many pretty designs that are available on Kolorobia.. take a look.
26 – Scented Candles by Pepperfry: If you are looking for candles and tea lights to go along with your candle holders, you’ll find a huge range on Pepperfry. The pic I’ve put here is of ‘Hazelnut Creme’ scented candles.. how delicious does that sound? I think you’ll find mom’s favourite fragrance in this collection.
27 – Owl Tea Light Holders by Exclusive Lane: This pair of hand made, hand painted wooden owls is just too cute!
28 – Vintage Style Glass Candle Holders by The Wishing Chair: These tall candle holders will add old world charm to any space. They are available in 4 pretty colours.
29 – Lotus Candle Glass Jar by Freedom Tree: That glass jar will look so pretty with a flame in it. And pretty when the candle is over too!
Kitchen Ware:
If mom enjoys cooking, as many many moms I know do, she probably spends a great deal of time in the kitchen. The gifts below are perfect to pamper her in the kitchen and make her space extra special.
30 – Picnic Basket by Cyahi: For all the food she’s ever made for you, the dabbas she’s ever packed for you and the number of times she’s pampered you with food. That picnic basket is something else!
31 – Wooden Cutlery Crate by Jaypore: Upgrade her plastic cutlery stand with this beautiful wooden one.
32 – Kitchen Towels by VLiving (Brown and White): Ditto for her regular striped / checked kitchen towels that she’s been using since time immemorial.
33 – Wooden Spice Box by Exclusive Lane: Ditto again for her plastic / steel spice box. I doubt hers is as pretty as this wooden one.
34 – Oven Mitt by Ikka Dukka: This if she likes to bake. Lots of pretty prints and colours available.
35 – Vintage Style Metal Basket by Bubblewrap Store: This one is a personal favourite too. You can see here how I styled it with flowers and candles on mom’s sideboard the last time. It’s such a pretty piece. It will definitely make a great addition to any kitchen.
Serve Ware:
If mom likes to cook, then I’m sure she’ll like pretty serve ware to serve all that delicious food in. Here are some of my faves to make the Mother’s Day gift ideas list.
36 – Platter by Kolorobia: There are a whole lot of beautiful platters in gorgeous designs to choose from. Pick one, or a medley to make a riot of colours and patterns.
37 – Soup Bowl by Jaypore: These pretty, white bowls with a printed floral pattern are made of porcelain.
38 – Ocean Milk and Water Jug by Exclusive Lane: You could also use this to display fresh flowers!
39 – Maple Platter by World Art Community: Love the white of the bowl and silver of the leaf with the natural wood board.
40 – Quemon Rectangular Platter by Freedom Tree: This jungalow style ceramic platter should go well with most colours because of the natural shades and patterns on it.
41 – Dual Square Cheese Platter by Cyahi: Again, it’s the use of two materials, which makes this platter special. The dark, patterned wood in contrast with the smooth, white marble is a perfect combination.
42 – Brigid Butter Dish by Ikka Dukka: I remember having butter dishes at home as a kid. We use regular plastic boxes for butter now. The old world charm of this almost transports you to another age and time.
Home & Heart:
And finally, some mother’s day gift ideas for the home and the heart. Some of these are little things to spoil mom. And some for the home, because most moms I know are quite house proud!
43 – Quilted Hangers by Ikka Dukka: Don’t you think 5 star hotel when you see these quilted hangers? I’m sure mom will love a set of these for her favourite dresses too!
44 – Aztec Runner by VLiving: Whether you use this on your dining table, a sideboard, or across the foot of your bed, this runner is sure to add some spunk to any space. The colourful tassels against the black and white geometric is what has me rooting for it.
45 – Wall Plates by Kolorobia: Loads of patterns, colours and designs are available in these plates too. It makes it really easy to choose a piece that will go with the existing colours and decor theme.
46 – Visiting Card Holder by Kolorobia: And the same is true for these visiting card holders. I could almost buy one of each type!
47 – Rope Swing by Hangit: Mom could always use one of these! She won’t need too much place to hang it. Even a corner in the bedroom would do. But such an awesome way to relax and unwind at the end of a long day… with a book or a cup of tea.
48 – Wild West Cactus Ring Holder by Decor Kart: Perfect little thing to offload your rings, chains and trinkets into.. and just too cute!
49 – Owl Book End by Exclusive Lane: These pretty, hand carved book ends would make a great gift for a book loving mom.
50 – Carousel Test Tube Vase by The Lohasmith: I’ve been in love with this vase since the first time I saw it… and still in love!
51 – Jute Storage Basket by The Wishing Chair: These baskets are so pretty and so useful in so many ways. Use them to neatly stash away books and papers, or keep your favourite plant… they always look good!
That completes our entire list of Mother’s Day gift ideas. I’ve put so much of my heart into this post that I’m not sure I can choose just a couple of things from this for mom. So here’s my plan. I’m sending this list to mom and letting her pick which gifts she would like for mother’s day.
If you are abroad and want to send mom a gift back home, then this list can be pretty useful. You can order online and have your gift delivered straight to mom at home.
Let me know which is your favourite of these Mother’s Day gift ideas. Also, if you have an idea which is not on this list… we could add it in next time! And if you do gift mom something from this list, let us know how she liked it!
Happy Mother’s Day!
