Welcome to a new month and another roundup! If you haven’t figured it out by now, the first blog post of every month is usually a roundup… a collection of all the beautiful things that go into making our gorgeous homes. In April, it’s time to sit back and cool off as the summer gradually begins to turn on the heat. And the seating roundup 2024 will help you select just the right seat for that!
Seating Roundup 2024
Be it your living room, bedroom.. or even your kitchen. I’m going to help you find the right seating for your space, by sharing all the amazing seating I’ve used in our projects over the last year. If you have your eye on a piece from an older project, worry not. All you have to do is hop over to last year’s seating roundup, or any of the roundups before that, and I’m sure you’ll be able to find something you like. So let’s begin..
First up, as always, are the..
Sofas & Benches
Plush Comfort
The simple lines of this sofa are in keeping with the mid-century vibe of this living room. We selected a deep green fabric for the sofa because there are two sweet little girls in the home and the client was worried about a light fabric getting dirty easily. I love how the darker green makes the sofa look cosier and sets the colour tone for this space.

Axel Sofa
This gorgeous leather sofa instantly brings a luxurious vibe to the space. I love how the deep colour goes so beautifully with the wood tones of this space. We also had the black metal legs of the sofa inspire the legs of a few other furniture pieces here.

Bespoke Sofa in Two Sizes
Another simple sofa design. We had this made in two sizes. The sofa along the window is longer than the one perpendicular to it. The difference in length becomes less obvious since the design of the two is exactly the same.

Bespoke Dining Bench
In a set up like this, where the dining bench is placed against the wall, I usually prefer to go for a fully upholstered bench. If you go with a wooden back, you always end up with scratch lines along the wall where the back touches it. Also notice how the arm doesn’t go all the way to the end of the seat? It makes it easier to slide in to the bench from the side.

Anton Dining Bench
If you look closely, you can just about see a glimpse of the bench behind the dining table. This bench matches the dining table, and so was an easy pick.

Accent Chairs
Deco
The simple lines and gentle curves of these lovely armchairs look elegant and stylish. These chairs are super comfortable and light on the eye, so are perfect for smaller spaces too.

Trapeze
The wooden arms of this chair tied it in beautifully with the wood tones and the beautiful leather sofa of this living room.

Bespoke Low Chairs
These chairs are literally placed in the passageway of this home. We wanted pieces that would be comfortable yet small so they didn’t block the passage completely. It is also the reason we went for the round seats – so that there are no annoying corners that you keep hitting against while walking past them.

Wing Chair
Large wing chairs are a favourite for me in bedrooms. They are easy to sit back and lounge in. You can even fold your legs under yourself to get comfortable. Or you could add a footstool to put up your legs and sit back.

Dining & Study Chairs
Next on our seating roundup 2024, we have ‘work’ chairs. Dining and study chairs both pretty much have the same requirements, and so are easily interchangeable. Which is why I’ve put together both of these under the same heading.
Wine Velvet Dining Chair
For instance, this dining chair that we used in this girls’ room for their study. It’s just the right size, and the colour goes beautifully with the reds and purples of the room.

Bespoke Study Chair
When you have arms on study chairs, they often don’t fit under the study table, especially if you have a drawer running below the table. But we wanted it all – the drawer, an armchair because it’s definitely more comfortable than one without arms, and wanted it to slide under the table so that the girls have enough space to play when not studying.
Did we get it all? Almost. We picked this chair where the back curves to make half an arm. You can rest your elbows on it while your hands rest on the table. Since the arm is short, most of the chair does slide under the table too.

Wave
One of my favourite chairs because it’s just the right balance of size and comfort. You’ve seen me use it before in the family room of the Dee Residence and the master bedroom of Keje. You see it in a totally different avatar here. The printed upholstery is just gorgeous, and I love this version, don’t you?

Petite
In keeping with its name, this chair is truly petite. So it made perfect sense to pick this for a table where we needed three dining chairs in a row.

Wayne
Another chair where the back curves into the arms, this takes less space, yet is super comfortable for a long, lazy meal with friends.

Dublin
Here’s another chair where the curved back gives a snug, comfortable fit and encourages longer conversations over a meal. I love how the checked fabric adds a light texture to the space.

Zeke
Finally, in the dining section of our seating roundup 2024, these beautiful bar stools. I picked these for their compact size, and the wicker back, which goes so well with the tropical vibe we have around this breakfast counter.

Stools
Next on our seating roundup 2024, we have stools. They are one of the most underrated pieces of furniture, but can be super useful and multifunctional. Use them to plant yourself, or your feet while sitting on a sofa or chair, or use them as extra table space to keep a tray. Best of all, they easily fit into the smallest of spaces.
Bespoke Stool With Wooden Legs
A simple cube, with the extended legs adding the design element. Notice how the legs are similar to those of the coffee table?

Bespoke Stool With Metal Legs
And this one is a simple circle with metal legs. The legs here are in keeping with the black metal legs you see on the sofa, coffee table and TV unit.

Swings
Rico Hanging Chair
The client wanted a swing in the balcony.. except the balcony is really tiny and we couldn’t fit a swing into it. But we had to give her her dream home, didn’t we? So we put this swing just inside the door to the balcony. This way you can use it facing inwards into the living room, or open the balcony door (just behind the curtain) and sit on the swing facing outwards.

Canvas Swing Chair
Another dream fulfilled, this time for a little girl. But then, a swing in the room would be a dream come true for most little girls, wouldn’t it?
The canvas adds another layer of natural texture to this nature inspired room, while the white colour ensures that all focus remains on the wallpaper.

Solid Wood Swing
This is a much bigger balcony and so we could easily fit in a bigger swing. A wooden one easily fits into any kind of space, and was a no brainer in this nature inspired home.

Outdoor Seating
And finally, outdoor pieces that will survive the heat, wind and most importantly in Mumbai – the rains!
Nammaro 2 Seat Sofa
This sofa fit in almost exactly into the little space that we had for the sofa. You can see how small this balcony is, so getting the right size was very important. It’s really light on the eye, which is a big bonus in this space.

Nammaro Lounge Chair
We ended up using the matching chair to the sofa above on another project. Though this balcony is much larger than the one above, it is much much longer than wider. So we could fit in these large chairs which are super comfortable. But I still like the fact that they are light on the eye, and so don’t block up the width of the balcony visually.
