Another year of design and decor inspiration and we’re back with a round up of our winners of #RittikaLookAtThis 2020. But first, a short summary of of this hashtag in case you are new to it.
I launched the hashtag #RittikaLookAtThis a couple of years back on Instagram. This little write up explains it perfectly.
#RittikaLookAtThis 2020
Every day so many of you share your pics on this hashtag. I choose a pic-of-the-week every week. It is an image that has either been inspired by one of our ideas, or inspires us with a new idea. That gives us one great idea every week, all year around.
And here today, are all those good ideas put together in one single post. So let’s get right to it.
(1) Decor Ideas Inspired By Our Work
We’ll start our round up of #RittikaLookAtThis 2020 with ideas that have been inspired by all of our work that we share with you. Like this, for example…
DIY Wall Hanging
Do you remember how we used this wall hanging to hide all the ugly electrical boxes in Em’s Rental Living Room? Some of you loved the idea.
Sujatha of @sujawatercolours used an old sari to hide her ugly electrical boxes.
While Neha of @decorholics_abode gave it her own twist by using a rug instead of a fabric drape to make this stunning wall hanging.
DIY Cushion Covers From Old T-shirts
A while back I wrote this post on how to make cushion covers from old t-shirts.
Love how @jewelbinoj not only made the cushion cover as per the tutorial, but also embellished it with pretty embroidery.
DIY Painting Plastic Pots
Then there was this post on how to jazz up your plastic pots by simply painting them.
Alka of @myhomecanvas1502 was inspired by the idea and created her own pretty version of the pots.
Decor Inspired By Festivals
A few ‘Holis’ back we wrote this post on colourful home decor with loads of ideas on how you can add colour to your interiors.
I absolutely love how Sumati of @cozyyylilcorner used the tips to add colour to her stunning living room. She also summarised the tips she used very well in her Insta post.
Come Diwali, I wrote this post on how I styled my living room for an India Today Home photo shoot. This doorway drape was made using old dupattas I had lying at home.
Sumati of @cozyylilcorner tried the drape in her own home, and I think it looks lovely!
Sharing Our Sources
Another thing we have never hesitated to do, is sharing our decor sources with all our readers. So it makes me really happy when you can use that information to source some beautiful decor for yourself.
Alka of @myhomecanvas1502 for instance, discovered the beautiful rugs of Imperial Knots thanks to one of our posts, and now has one of her own in her living room.
Inspiration From Our Balcony
And finally, coming to this balcony garden which has been much loved by all of you ever since it made its appearance on this blog.
Amrita of @amrita_rubai realised how putting a grill on the ceiling makes it so easy to hang planters and went ahead and did just that.
Poyani of @beautify.your.home saw sparrows coming regularly to our bird feeder, and decided to add a bird feeder in her balcony too.
@rustic.hues saw the red bench in our balcony and had the courage to move her blue bench to hers!
(2) Your Decor Ideas That Inspired Us
The next part of our round up for #RittikaLookAtThis 2020 is all about your ideas. Pics you shared with us that inspired all of us with new ideas.

For instance, we love how Gayatri of @gopalgaya gave her bathroom this stunning makeover by just adding plants.

Upcycled Tyre Planter
While Divya of @desi_diy_divyakandala upcyled an old tyre to make this pretty planter.

Love how Menila of @la_vie_en_rose_bymenila added the old world charm by using these floral drapes above her breakfast counter.
Upcycled Crates & Pallets
Supriya of @supriya_prajakt used an old crate and a broken mirror to make this rustic side table for her balcony.
While Shefali of @goboho.decor used pallets to make this lovely coffee table for her living room.
Shivani of @the_usual_blahs did the same with a fruit crate. She also added fairy lights below the crate to make it twinkle!
Recycled Doors
Charita of @cherryontop_ck recycled old French doors to make a full sized dressing mirror for one room and a sliding door for her walk-in-closet.
DIY Hand Painted Floor
Shaoni of @shaonimoos was fed up of her kitchen flooring and didn’t want to change it. She hand painted it to give it this stunning makeover.

And when Christmas came, we had so many lovely Christmas decor ideas.

While Krittika of @willowandlovehome made this simple and oh, so beautiful Christmas wreath from a hoop.
Angela of @thecraftyangels made these pretty Christmas trees from pipe cleaners.
Akash of @thecandidnarrator showed us how to make this cute Christmas star from wooden branches.

Shweta of @my.decor.saga used pages of an old book on an entire wall to make this fascinating DIY wallpaper.
DIY Shelf
Rajni of @myriad_myhome used an old window and new baskets to make this pretty DIY shelf.
Upcycled Glass Table
Siddiqa of @up_cycling_rocks_dubai converted these simple glass tables to these bright, beautiful, Moroccan inspired tables using paints and self adhesive tiles.
