If you read our post on making yourself a stylish bedroom, you will remember that a few of the tips there were about styling your foot of bed. We focus so much on our headboard and the wall behind it while doing up our bedrooms, that we tend to forget the foot of bed area.
Foot of Bed Styling Ideas:
But how would you style your foot of bed? What possibly can you keep there?
Depending on how much space you have, you can actually keep a whole lot, as you will see in this post. So let’s get right to it.
1 – Bed Runners
This is the easiest way to style your bed. It doesn’t matter whether your bedroom is large or small, you can always throw in a runner at the foot of your bed for that added layer of glam.
You could use a regular throw, or something more glam like these beautiful large tassels below.
I absolutely love the cosy comfort of a chunky knit throw. Such a super way to add some warm vibes to your bedroom.
But here’s what I lay on my bed. If you don’t want to invest separately in a runner or throw, fold your comforter and layer it at the foot of your bed. Takes care of where to keep it during the day, and looks great on the bed.
2 – Rugs
Another easy way to style your bedroom is to use a rug. It’s a great way to add colour and texture to your bedroom.
Again, whatever the size of your room, a rug will always fit in. Even if you have the narrowest of spaces left after the end of your bed, layer a rug under your bed and see how it begins to look more complete.
You could even use an odd shape, like an oval or a circular rug, or a faux fur rug for an informal, cozy feel.
3 – Benches
Now if you do happen to have a little space at the foot of your bed, placing a bench there is a great way to style it.
The narrowest of benches will work beautifully to give a nice ‘end’ to your bed.
I love how they’ve upholstered a part of this bench. The fabric adds colour and texture and it works perfectly for sitting or for keeping your extras when required.
A seating bench works well too. Pile on those extra pillows there at night, or use it to sit down to tie your shoe laces before rushing off to work.
4 – Stools
A slight variation on the bench we used above, you can also use stools at the the foot of your bed. If there isn’t much space, just use the one. Especially in small bedrooms, it helps give that added space to keep something or sit down for a minute if required.
Space permitting, a pair of stools is a great add on space in a bedroom.
Use upholstered poufs to add colour, or natural materials like raw wood or cane to add texture.
Adding stools to the foot of bed is also a great idea in kids rooms. Place one in front of each bed to give each child a little additional space.
5 – Chairs
Now if you do have a little more space at the end of your bed, adding a couple of chairs is a great idea. This is especially useful in long bedrooms where you don’t have place for a seating area on the side of the bed.
Depending on your room style you could have a more traditional looking set up.
Or something more young and fun. Either way, it adds a whole lot of useful space to your room.
6 – Sofa
And then, if you have a whole lot of more space, why not a sofa for the ultimate comfort?
Use it to put your feet up and lounge around in with a newspaper and a cup of tea, or lay out your clothes to figure out what you’re going to wear to work!
And if a table will fit in, nothing like it to have a whole seating area in front of your television or your full length windows.. whichever view your bedroom offers.
7 – Trunks
If storage is what you need more than seating in your bedroom, your foot of bed is a great place to include that too. You could start with a simple trunk. It not only works as a table top cum bench, all the storage inside is a great help too. You can store all your extra cushions and blankets right where you need them.
This is again a great idea in kids rooms. Each child gets their own store of toys and books right at the foot of their bed.
8 – Baskets
A slight variation of using trunks, would be using baskets at the foot of bed. Though you could use them just for decor, if you don’t really need more storage…
… having big baskets help store daily needs right where you need them.
You can even designate separate baskets for toys, books, blankets etc to organise it better.
9 – Chest Of Drawers
Better yet, for more storage and better organisation, is to place a dresser at the foot of your bed.
You can place a larger one for additional storage.
Or line up two smaller chest of drawers or side tables to make a longer unit.
10 – Study Table
Yes, you read that right. A study table at the foot of your bed.
What a great way to fit in a study area in a smaller room. And don’t you love how stylish it looks?
11 – Plants
If you a regular here, you know this one by now. We use them everywhere with pride, and certainty that they will always make our space more glam. So how could we leave out plants from our foot of bed?
Place them on the floor, hang them from the ceiling to give your bedroom a jungalicious look.
Or place just one to add some charm. Either way, you can never go wrong with a plant.
.
That brings us to the end of our 11 ways to make your foot of bed beautiful. See which one of these would be useful to you. Use any one individually or mix them up to add your own personality to your room. Either way, you’ll find your room start to look more exquisite when you give some thought to the area which is usually completely ignored in bedrooms.
Have fun glamming up your bedrooms, and share with us what worked for you.
Until next time,
Great….very practical and gives character to the room.
And so easy and useful too!
