Finally, we get to the last bedroom of this home, the boy’s room of ‘Shway’. This room belongs to a young man in college, so ‘boy’ is probably not the right way to describe it. But along with all the whites and the understated elegance you see in the rest of the home, it does have a boyish charm to it. And so ‘boy’ is probably not the wrong way to describe it either.

Boy’s Room of Shway

Just like the rest of the home, the primary colours of this room are whites, creams and beiges. Unlike most of Shway, here we have used black as the dominant accent instead of gold.

So just like our young man, even though this room is an integral part of the home, it has its own distinct personality. And that’s what I love most about it.

The Plan

We’ve put all the furniture of this bedroom along two opposite walls. As you enter the bedroom, the facing wall is long and uninterrupted, so all our large pieces of furniture went there. We have the bed with bedside tables on one side, with the wardrobe on the other.

Opposite the bed we have the television, with the study table in the corner opposite the wardrobe.

The Bed Wall

As you enter the room, you have the bed right in front of you. On the left side there is a tiny bedside table with a single drawer. It provides just enough space to keep essentials for bedtime.

To the right we have more space so we fit in a large-ish bedside table with a set of drawers for additional storage.

Further left, between the bed and the window, are the wardrobes of this room.

The Study Wall

Opposite the wardrobe we have the study table. Open shelves above the study table give space to keep books and other essentials within easy reach.

We used a sideboard below the television instead of a regular TV unit for additional storage. Since the sideboard is close to the study, it provides storage for our young man’s books, files, bag etc.

Look and Feel

Here’s a view of the boy’s room of Shway through its door, which opens into the living room. They say a picture speaks a thousand words, and I think this one best describes how this space is a beautiful extension of this lovely home.

We asked our young man what colour he would like in his room, and he was certain he wanted it white. So that’s what we gave him.

This room is almost all white, except for all the table surfaces. The study table top, the carcass of the larger bedside table and the entire smaller bedside table are all wood. They add the warm wooden element that I think is essential to every space. Also, practically I think darker table tops are easier to maintain than white ones.

Lastly we added black accents in small measures for a spunky, young vibe to the room. So the TV cabinet and wardrobe handles are all black…

… as are the handles of the bedside table. We used black shades on the wall sconces and framed the artwork in a simple black frame. I also love the element of fun in the black doodles on the lumbar cushion.

Before and Afters

Let’s wrap up the boy’s bedroom of Shway with a few before and afters.

The facing wall of the bedroom is the longest…

We divided it into two with the bed and side tables on the right side of the room.

The window side of the facing wall…

… is where we placed the wardrobes.

The wall opposite the bed…

Has the TV unit opposite the bed and the study table next to it, near the window.

The boy’s room of Shway turned out just like we imagined it.. the perfect mix of sophisticated and fun. Do you agree? Let me know in the comments section below.

This was the last of the three bedrooms of Shway. I hope you’ve seen the others because they are just as beautiful. Click here in case you have missed any of them.

We’re almost done with this home tour, but I will be taking a short break before completing it. The beautiful bathrooms of this home are coming up in the new year.

Until then, here’s wishing you a happy holiday season!
