We’ve had a ton of fun designing the bathrooms of Sylver. Two of these bathrooms we have literally created from nowhere and another one we broke down and remade from scratch. And then there is one more which we worked on partly to reconfigure the entrance. I promise you won’t be able to tell which part is new and which part is not!

Bathrooms of Sylver

With the few words and the small snapshots above, you can tell I’m quite excited about sharing the bathrooms of Sylver with you.. so let me get started right away.

Bathrooms - Sylver

This entire plan that you see above was one humungous, poorly planned bathroom. I’m sharing a before pic below just so you get an idea of the how big and how poorly planned.

Considering this was the guest bathroom, we certainly didn’t need this size. We decided to divide it into smaller areas that would be far more useful to this home.

So this entire area was divided into…

(1) A small powder bathroom, the entrance to which is near the main door. Since this home didn’t have a powder bathroom this was definitely a useful addition to the home.

(2) A guest bathroom, the entrance to which is through the guest – cum – entertainment room. You can see from the plan above that this would yet make a super huge bathroom that was just not required.

(3) And so we further divided this bathroom to also create a walk-in-wardrobe. I think this part made our clients the happiest of all!

Powder Bathroom

Do you remember the all grey, dark cement and wood vibe of the entrance and foyer of this home? We wanted our powder bathroom to carry forward that vibe.

We went with stone and brick finishes in here. We found this amazing stone finish tile with a part shiny – part matt texture.

We used this all over the bathroom.. on floor, walls, counter and the lower part of the walls.

Bricks were a great way to break the dark monotony of the stone and this brick tile fit in fabulously.

Finally we used LED strips at the base of the brick to light it upwards. It was the best way to highlight the texture of the bricks using light and shadow and I love how dramatic the entire powder bathroom looks. It is completely in tune with the entryway and foyer.

Guest Bathroom

Next we have the guest bathroom. The guest room, as you have seen before, is also all grey and wood with a stone tile on the floor and cement texture on the walls and ceilings. Though we didn’t want this bathroom to be dark and gloomy (you have to be able to see yourself properly when you shave or get dressed), it still had to go with the grey and wood of the bedroom.

We decided to go with black, white and wood in here. When seen from the guest room, it fits right in.

Bathrooms - Sylver

The entrance to this bathroom is through the walk in closet. Being as narrow as it is, we decided to use mirrors on all the shutters so that the space looks bigger and wider than it is.

Once you step in, you have the basin in front of you with the WC to the left…

… and the shower area to the right.

Considering that it’s just white and wood we’ve used all across the bathroom it is this one wall that adds all the drama to it. The arched mirror on the patterned wall…

… the textured wash basin and that interesting wall sconce all go towards making this bathroom unique.

The Study Bathroom

On the other side of the entrance passageway we have a study with a small bathroom of its own.

Since this one was really tiny, we decided to keep it really simple with an all white finish. The brass fittings and the orange wash basin add the little pop of colour in here.

We used these patterned tiles on the shower wall, which also reflect into the large basin mirror and keep this space interesting.

Girl’s Bathroom

Finally, the bathroom attached to our little girl’s bedroom.

Bathrooms - Sylver

This before pic shows you how the entrance to the bathroom was from the passage outside. We broke down the wash basin and created an entrance door from there, directly through the girl’s bedroom. Then we closed down this door and made our basin counter along the wall opposite the WC.

We didn’t touch the WC or the shower area. Instead of going with the dark marble of the old bathroom, we got more marble to match the light one. We used this lighter colour on the new floor, walls and basin counter.

Not only did we give our little girl an attached bathroom, it also has a much bigger basin counter than the original bathroom and a lighter, happier feel to the whole space.

Bathrooms - Sylver

That’s a complete roundup of all the bathrooms we’ve designed for Sylver. They are all quite different from each other in terms of finish and feel. Yet they complement the spaces with which they belong. And most importantly, whether big or small, they are well planned and practical.

I thought I would have a clear favourite from all these bathrooms, but I don’t. Do you have one that’s your fave? Let me know which in the comments below.
